Features:
- Enables high-availability with two CP471-00 S1 modules in duplexed FCUs.
- Requires CENTUM VP R6.05 or later for full functionality.
- Supports module replacement without system shutdown in redundant configurations.
The CP471-00 S1 supports dual-redundant configuration on duplexed field control units, allowing two processor modules to operate in parallel. If one module fails, the other continues processing without interruption, eliminating single points of failure. This redundancy is critical for continuous process control applications where downtime is costly. The CP471-00 S1 also supports online replacement in dual-redundant configuration, enabling users to replace modules without system shutdown. The CP471-00 S1 can be mounted on AFV30D, AFV40D, AFV50D, and AFV70D duplexed units, providing flexible deployment options for Yokogawa CENTUM VP DCS systems.
The CP471-00 S1 provides a migration path from older CP461 processor modules. The CP471-00 S1 requires CENTUM VP R6.05 or later and EC401 ESB bus coupler module with style code S3 or later. Existing CP461 can be replaced with the CP471-00 S1, but user replacement is prohibited and must be performed by qualified personnel. The CP471-00 S1 cannot coexist with CP461 in dual-redundant configuration, but a pair of CP461 in dual-redundant configuration can be online-replaced with a pair of CP471-00 S1, ensuring smooth system upgrades.
The CP471-00 S1 is available with multiple suffix codes to suit different installation requirements. Suffix -0 provides no explosion protection, while -1 offers explosion protection for hazardous areas. Basic type (0) and ISA Standard G3 option (1) provide flexibility for environmental conditions. The CP471-00 S1 also offers option code /ERFI for enhanced RFI (Tokuchi) protection, improving performance in environments with high electromagnetic interference. The module weighs approximately 700g and complies with applicable standards as part of the field control units, ensuring reliable operation in demanding industrial environments.
The CP471-00 S1 YOKOGAWA Processor Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond
End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Oil & Gas (Upstream/Downstream): Used in offshore platforms, pipelines, oil refineries, and LNG plants for automated distillation, cracking, and blending control.
- Chemical & Petrochemical: Manages complex chemical reactions, batch processing, and hazardous material handling with precise temperature and pressure loops.
- Power Generation: Controls boiler systems, steam turbines, feed-water loops, and emissions monitoring in thermal, nuclear, and combined-cycle power plants.
- Pharmaceutical & Food: Ensures strict batch consistency, clean-in-place (CIP) automation, and adherence to regulatory compliance tracking.
- Dual-Redundant Architecture: Two modules operate in parallel (Active/Standby). The standby module executes identical calculations in real-time.
- Bumpless Transfer: If the active module fails, control switches to the standby unit within milliseconds without interrupting the field process variables.
- ECC Memory Protection: Built-in Error-Correcting Code (ECC) memory automatically detects and corrects single-bit memory errors, preventing system crashes caused by soft errors.
- Self-Diagnostic Suite: Continuously monitors CPU temperature, power supply voltage levels, communication bus integrity, and internal clock execution.
- ESD Safety: Always wear a grounded anti-static wrist strap before touching the module.
- Slot Verification: Ensure the module is inserted into the correct designated processor slots of the Field Control Unit (FCU) (e.g., AFV30D or A2FV50D).
- Insertion: Align the module with the guide rails and push it firmly until the levers lock into place.
- Secure Fasteners: Tighten the top and bottom screws to ensure optimal grounding and vibration resistance.
