More Information

Overview Manuals Rack Linking Buffer Retention Power Distribution Application
  • Mandatory communication and power link for a Freelance rack
  • Coding switch establishes the rack identity on DigiNet P
  • Battery and external inputs support controller-memory buffering

DLM01 forms the rack-level bridge between the station network, power feed and installed controller and I/O modules.

Supply supervision and buffering support rack continuity, while the front coding switch ties the physical rack to its engineered DigiNet P identity.

Document the switch, network cable, power feed, fuse, battery and expansion connection before disturbing the existing assembly.

Availability, condition, price, and shipping time for DLM01 are confirmed during quotation.

  • The link module connects the rack to the station DigiNet P communication path.
  • The coding switch associates the physical rack with its configured network identity.
  • Network restoration includes cable, termination, identity and controller communication checks.
  • A local battery or an approved external source can maintain controller memory during supply interruption.
  • Buffer condition is checked before planned power removal rather than after data is lost.
  • A recoverable engineering backup remains part of the service plan.
  • The module receives the rack supply from the designated DPW source.
  • Supply monitoring and protection help identify loss of usable rack power.
  • The rack power budget must include the controller, I/O modules and any expansion arrangement.
  • DigiNet P connection for classic Freelance racks
  • Monitored 24 V DC distribution within a rack station
  • Controller-memory buffering in rack-based process stations
Description
DLM01 is the mandatory ABB rack link module that connects the station to DigiNet P and distributes the incoming controller power across the rack.

It supervises the supply, supports expansion I/O, provides battery or external buffering for controller RAM and uses the coding switch to establish the rack communication identity.

Before replacement, record the coding-switch position, DigiNet P cabling, DPW power feed, fuse, battery condition, external buffer source and any connected expansion rack.

Technical notes
DLM01 requires matching the DigiNet P coding switch, rack identity, DPW 24 V feed, fuse, battery or external buffer and expansion wiring; a wrong setting can isolate the entire rack.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
Why is ABB DLM01 required in every Freelance rack?
It provides the rack link, communication identity, monitored power distribution and controller-memory buffering functions on which the installed rack architecture depends.
What coding-switch information must be recorded before replacing ABB DLM01?
Record the complete switch position that establishes DigiNet P data rate and rack identity; reproduce it exactly before reconnecting the station network.
How should ABB DLM01 battery buffering be protected during service?
Confirm battery condition and any external 3.6 V or 24 V buffer source before removing power, and maintain a verified controller project backup.
What power checks are required for ABB DLM01?
Verify the DPW 24 V feed, external fuse, polarity, rack load and module indication before allowing the link module to distribute power to the rack.
Can ABB DLM01 support an expansion I/O rack?
Yes, but the expansion connection, rack identity, DigiNet P path and overall power budget must follow the documented station layout.
Can ABB DLM01 be replaced directly by ABB DLM02?
Do not assume a direct exchange. DLM02 is designed for redundant power feeds, so rack wiring, power supplies, alarm handling and station documentation must first support that architecture.
How should an ABB DLM01 communication fault be investigated?
Check coding-switch identity, DigiNet P cable and termination, rack power, fuse, status indication and controller configuration in that order before replacing the module.
