More Information

Overview Manuals Operating Modes Data Exchange Network Service Application
  • PROFIBUS DP V0 master, slave or combined master/slave operation
  • Configurable process-data consistency within the controller image
  • Two internally bridged bus connectors for cable loop-through

DPM200 is a Bachmann PROFIBUS DP communication module designed for M200 controller systems.

It exchanges cyclic process data as a DP master, DP slave or combined master/slave and supports multi-segment network architectures with appropriate repeaters.

Before installation or replacement, verify the controller project, operating mode, station addresses, GSD data, process-image mapping, cable polarity, termination and repeater placement.

Availability, condition, price, and shipping time for DPM200 are confirmed during quotation.

Description
DPM200 is a Bachmann M200 fieldbus module for PROFIBUS DP V0 communication in master, slave or combined master/slave operating modes.

The module exchanges process data through an 8 kB process image, supports multi-master networks, and provides two internally bridged PROFIBUS connectors with galvanic isolation from the controller.

Before installation, confirm the M200 controller configuration, station addresses, baud rate, bus termination, repeater plan, process-image allocation, GSD files, cable routing and permitted module count.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
Can Bachmann DPM200 replace a PROFIBUS interface without changing the controller project?
Do not assume so. Preserve the M200 project and verify the DPM200 operating mode, station address, process-image mapping, consistency settings, GSD data and bus timing before exchange.
Are both PROFIBUS connectors on Bachmann DPM200 separate networks?
No. They are internally bridged for cable loop-through, so termination must remain at the actual segment ends and the second connector does not create an independent channel.
When does a Bachmann DPM200 installation need PROFIBUS repeaters?
Repeater use depends on the required station count, cable length, baud rate and segment topology; the documented 125-slave maximum is not achievable as one unsegmented 32-device electrical segment.
What should be backed up before replacing Bachmann DPM200?
Preserve the controller project, PROFIBUS configuration, GSD files, station addresses, process-image mapping and diagnostic records.
What must be checked before adding another Bachmann DPM200 to an M200 controller?
Confirm that the controller will remain within the documented limit of three DPM200 modules, then assign the additional module its own PROFIBUS configuration and process-image resources before downloading the project.
What must be checked when commissioning Bachmann DPM200?
Verify baud rate, addresses, termination, cable polarity, repeater placement, master/slave configuration and cyclic process-data exchange.
Can Bachmann DPM200 firmware be updated?
Yes. The data sheet states that firmware updates are possible through Bachmann SolutionCenter.
