Features:
- Connection Between Field-Mounted Vibration Sensors and 2201 System Backplane
- Integrates Capability of Four-Channel Signal Processing with Programmable Alarm Management
- Functions Alongside the System Monitor and Additional Four-Channel Modules
The Bently Nevada 2201/03-01 serves as the dedicated Four-Channel Monitor module within the 2201 Monitoring System architecture, providing continuous vibration and seismic data acquisition for critical machinery protection. This Bently Nevada 2201/03-01 continuously processes incoming signals from proximity probes and seismic sensors, converting mechanical vibration data into calibrated measurements and distributing this information through the rack backplane to support steady state operation of the entire monitoring system. Seamless data integration is standard with the Bently Nevada 2201/03-01, however using multiple Bently Nevada 2201/03-01 modules in a single rack allows for expanded channel capacity up to 24 channels. The Bently Nevada 2201/03-01 has made improvements in several areas over previous monitoring system designs, including direct programmability from the PLC-5 controller rather than manual jumper configuration.
The Bently Nevada 2201/03-01 provides essential monitoring functions common to the entire rack, and is a critical component of the machinery protection path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall monitor system. Up to six Bently Nevada 2201/03-01 modules are supported per rack depending on the required channel count. The Bently Nevada 2201/03-01 occupies a single slot in the rack and installs in any of the six available monitor positions alongside the System Monitor.
For full 24-channel monitoring applications, the 2201 System requires multiple Bently Nevada 2201/03-01 modules installed in the available slots. In addition to standard measurement capabilities, the multi-module configuration also performs independent alarm detection on each channel. The Bently Nevada 2201/03-01 executes threshold monitoring using the internal circuitry specified in the system configuration. Using this method, each Bently Nevada 2201/03-01 continually monitors all four channels for Alert and Danger level violations. If the module detects that any channel measurement exceeds configured limits, it will immediately activate the corresponding alarm output and communicate the event to the System Monitor for logging and notification.
The 2201/03-01 Bently Nevada Four-Channel Monitor module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Critical Machinery: Large-scale equipment like steam turbines, gas turbines, and centrifugal compressors where failure leads to significant downtime.
- Essential & General Purpose Equipment: Motors, pumps, and fans that require automated oversight to prevent secondary damage.
- Seismic and Vibration Monitoring: Captures real-time data from proximity probes, velocity transducers, and accelerometers to monitor shaft vibration and casing stability.
- Dual-Level Alarms: Provides independent Alert (early warning) and Danger (automatic shutdown or critical status) setpoints for each of its four channels.
- Fault Detection: Monitors transducer signal integrity; if a sensor or cable fails, the module identifies the fault to prevent false trips.
- Integrated Data Source: By combining vibration data with plant process data (such as temperature or pressure) in a single PLC-5 source, it allows for more sophisticated root-cause analysis compared to standalone systems.
- PLC-5 Interface: It installs directly into a 1771 Universal I/O backplane, allowing it to reside in the same rack as the machine's control logic.
- Software Configuration: Unlike older hardware (like the 3300 series) that required manual jumpers, the Bently Nevada 2201/03-01 is programmed directly via the PLC-5 controller, streamlining the setup process.
- Communication Ports: Features dedicated RS-232 ports—SDIX for local troubleshooting and DDIX for connection to external Bently Nevada communication processors for advanced data management.
