Features:
- With a 12.7 mm (500 mil) range and 0.787 V/mm (20 mV/mil) output, this probe is specifically designed for measuring rotor-to-stator thermal growth differences in steam turbines
- Capable of continuous operation at 200°C (392°F) and intermittent spikes to 250°C (482°F). Features front/rear seals and FluidLoc® cable to prevent moisture ingress
- Includes a removable collar on the ClickLoc™ connector for routing cables through tight clearances. Supplied with connector protectors and an installation tool to prevent contamination
The 129716-173-037-15-05 is engineered specifically for differential expansion (DE) measurement on steam turbines. Unlike standard 8 mm proximity probes that have a linear range of only 2 mm (80 mils), this 25 mm probe provides a linear range of 12.7 mm (500 mils) with a sensitivity of 0.787 V/mm (20 mV/mil). During turbine startup, the rotor heats up and expands faster than the heavier stator (casing).
The 129716-173-037-15-05 is built to survive the harsh environment inside a steam turbine casing. It operates continuously at temperatures up to 200°C (392°F) and can withstand intermittent excursions up to 250°C (482°F). The probe also features both front and rear seals to prevent steam or condensation from entering the probe tip.
The 129716-173-037-15-05 includes several features that simplify installation in tight turbine casings. The removable collar on the ClickLoc™ connector allows the connector to be temporarily disassembled, permitting the cable to be routed through small openings before reassembly. The probe is supplied with connector protectors and a disposable installation tool to keep the connectors clean during routing.
The 129716-173-037-15-05 Bently Nevada Proximity Probe may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond
End-Of-Life (EOL)by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Reciprocating Compressors: This is the core application area, used to monitor piston rod drop or rod vibration. The probe is directly installed in the cylinder or stuffing box area filled with high-pressure gas.
- High-Pressure Centrifugal Compressors: Monitor shaft vibration or displacement inside high-pressure cylinders.
- High-Pressure Pumps and Hydraulic Systems: Monitor the dynamic position of rotating components in hydraulic actuators or high-pressure water pumps.
- Front-end physical connection: Utilizes a special ceramic-to-metal brazing technique or a reinforced sealing structure to ensure no gas or liquid leakage occurs inside the probe under high pressure.
- Electrical signal transmission: Transmits a weak electromagnetic induction signal via a 1.5-meter (15) integrated cable.
- System integration: Must be connected to the 3300 XL extension cable (typically 3.5 meters) and ultimately to the 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor to form a complete 5-meter monitoring system.
- Hazardous Area Certification (Ex): Certified by CSA, ATEX, and IECEx. This means it can operate safely in flammable and explosive gas or dust environments (such as Zone 0, Zone 1).
- Pressure Vessel Standards: Its mechanical structure is verified to meet the safety factor requirements for high-pressure vessel installation, preventing the risk of "probe ejection" under extreme pressure.
- API 670 Compliance: Its electrical performance (linearity, frequency response, stability) fully complies with the American Petroleum Institute's API 670 industrial standard for mechanical protection systems.
