The Bently Nevada 3500/20 125744-02 Standard Rack Interface Module (RIM) is the primary interface between the 3500 rack and external communication or configuration systems. Located in Slot 1 of the rack next to the power supplies, the RIM supports a proprietary protocol to configure the rack and retrieve essential machinery information. It allows seamless integration with compatible Bently Nevada external communications processors, including TDXnet, TDIX, and DDIX, providing a centralized point for rack data management.
The RIM provides extensive data communication capabilities. The standard front panel supports RS232 serial communications at 38.4 kbaud, while rear I/O modules offer RS232/RS422 serial communication at up to 38.4 kbaud and internal modem communications at 14.4 kbaud. Multiple LED indicators enhance operational visibility: the OK LED confirms the module is operating properly, the TX/RX LED indicates communication with other rack modules, the TM LED signals Trip Multiply mode, and the CONFIG OK LED verifies a valid rack configuration. The OK relay supports up to 5A at 24 Vdc/120 Vac, with switched power up to 120 W/600 VA. Typical power consumption is 4.75 watts.
The RIM is not part of the critical monitoring path but performs essential functions common to the entire rack. For Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) applications, a TMR version of the RIM is required. The TMR RIM performs monitor channel comparisons by continuously comparing outputs from three redundant monitors. If one monitor deviates beyond a configured percentage, it flags an error and generates a system event, ensuring high reliability and data integrity in critical applications.
With an operating temperature range of -30°C to +65°C (-22°F to +150°F), storage from -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to +185°F), and 95% non-condensing humidity tolerance, the Bently Nevada 3500/20 125744-02 RIM is engineered for demanding industrial environments, providing robust communication, configuration, and monitoring support for the 3500 system.
