Features:
- Four Dedicated Velomitor Channels Provide Reliable And Accurate Velocity Monitoring
- Internal Barriers And Terminations Enhance Safety And Simplify Installation
- Fully Compatible With Multiple 3500 Series Monitor Modules
The Bently Nevada 135489-03 I/O Module is engineered for seamless integration with 3500 series monitoring systems. It is optimized to collect precise velocity data from Velomitor sensors, ensuring dependable operation in industrial environments.
This module stands out with its internal barriers and terminations, which reduce wiring complexity and provide enhanced protection in hazardous areas. Unlike other I/O modules, it allows consistent performance across different 3500 series monitors, including both 3500/42M and 3500/70M.
Operators benefit from the module’s flexibility and interchangeability. By supporting multiple monitor configurations, the 135489-03 simplifies system upgrades, reduces inventory needs, and delivers reliable vibration and velocity monitoring without compromising accuracy or safety.
The 135489-03 Bently Nevada I/O Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Sensor Selection: In the software's "Sensor" tab, the Velomitor type must be selected. Since the 135489-03 integrates safety barriers, the software will automatically match the corresponding electrical compensation parameters.
- Channel Pairing: This module supports 4 independent channels. During configuration, you can define them as radial vibration, axial displacement (application-specific), or reciprocating machine impact monitoring.
- Alarm Settings: Alert and Danger thresholds, as well as delay times, are set via software. These logics are then sent to the corresponding upstream monitoring modules.
- Hardware Switch: Check the write protection switch on the back of the 3500 frame. It must be set to the "On" state for successful configuration.
- Passive Attribute: The 135489-03 is a physical interface board and does not contain independently updatable firmware.
- Related Updates: The so-called "firmware update" actually refers to updating the firmware of its paired 3500/42M or 3500/70M master module.
- Operation Method: Connect the 3500/22M (TDI) module to the PC. Use the Firmware Upgrade Utility in the configuration software. Select the corresponding Slot to update.
- Note: Updating the firmware will temporarily disable the monitoring channel to which the module belongs. It is recommended to perform this update while the equipment is powered off.
- Hazardous Areas: Due to its integrated internal safety barrier, it allows direct connection of Velomitor sensors located in Zone 0, Zone 1, or Zone 2 (Class I, Div 1/2) without the need for an external safety barrier cabinet.
- Large Rotating Machinery: Commonly used for monitoring the casing vibration of steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, pumps, and fans (using Velomitor to measure velocity values and convert them to displacement).
- Reciprocating compressors: When used with the 3500/70M module, it monitors crosshead impact or compressor vibration to identify loose connecting rods or valve malfunctions.
- Space-constrained installation: For control cabinets without space to install external isolation barriers, this integrated I/O module is the preferred solution.
