Features:
- Dual-Channel Speed Monitoring with Peak Value Retention
- Versatile Sensor Input Compatibility and Signal Conditioning
- Flexible Operating Modes for Diverse Rotational Applications
The 3500/50E operates as the Enhanced Tachometer Module within the 3500 monitoring system, providing precise rotational speed measurement and event detection for critical rotating machinery. It continuously processes incoming signals from eddy current probes or magnetic pickups across a wide input range (+10.0V to -24.0V), converting these to reliable speed data and distributing conditioned Keyphasor signals through the rack backplane to support synchronous operation of other monitors and protection modules. Seamless integration is standard with the 3500/50E, and utilizing the Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) configuration will allow continued operation with majority voting logic in the event of a single module failure. The 3500/50E has incorporated significant improvements over previous tachometer designs, including expanded speed range capability and enhanced peak hold functionality within the 3500 rack.
The 3500/50E provides essential speed monitoring functions critical to machinery protection, serving as a vital component of the measurement path, directly affecting the accurate detection of rotational parameters and overall system reliability. One or two 3500/50E modules are required per rack depending on the number of speed measurement points and desired redundancy level. The 3500/50E occupies a single full-height slot in the rack and can be installed in any available slot position (1-15) with the appropriate I/O module.
For TMR Redundant applications, the 3500 System requires three 3500/50E tachometer modules installed with corresponding TMR I/O modules. In addition to standard single module operation, the TMR configuration performs automatic channel comparison and voting. The 3500 TMR speed configuration executes reliability checking using the internal comparison circuitry specified in the module options. Using this method, the redundant speed system continually monitors the health of all three channels. If the system detects that one 3500/50E channel is no longer providing accurate measurements (outside configured tolerance levels compared to the other two channels), it will automatically exclude the erroneous data and utilize the remaining two channels for continued reliable operation, placing an event in the System Event List.
The 3500/50E Bently Nevada Enhanced Tachometer Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
