Features:
- Supports High-Speed 100Base-FX Fiber-Optic Ethernet For Reliable Data Transfer
- Interfaces With M Series Monitors To Collect Both Transient And Steady-State Signals
- Operates In Extreme Industrial Environments From -30°C To +65°C With Up To 95% Non-Condensing Humidity
The Bently Nevada 3500/22M 146031-02 module is a high-performance Transient Data Interface (TDI) that links the 3500 monitoring system with software such as System 1 Condition Monitoring and 3500 System Configuration. It merges the functionality of a traditional rack interface with advanced data collection capabilities, providing seamless communication with monitors like 3500/40M, 3500/42M, and 3500/46M.
Equipped with 100Base-FX fiber-optic Ethernet I/O, the 3500/22M delivers faster, more reliable data transmission compared to standard 10Base-T/100Base-TX modules. Front-panel USB-B connectivity and clearly visible OK and TX/RX LEDs make local configuration, status monitoring, and troubleshooting intuitive, giving operators a clear view of operational health and network activity.
Installation is simple and space-efficient, requiring just one full-height rear slot in the 3500 rack, preferably next to the power supply. Designed to endure harsh conditions, the module functions reliably between -30°C to +65°C and can withstand storage extremes from -40°C to +85°C, making it ideal for industrial environments where continuous and accurate monitoring of transient events is critical.
The 3500/22M 146031-02 Bently Nevada 100Base-FX (Fiber Optic) I/O Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Electrical Isolation and Lightning Protection: Utilizing fiber optic transmission, it possesses inherent electrical isolation characteristics, completely eliminating the risks of grounding loops, electromagnetic interference (EMI), and lightning surges that may occur with copper cable connections.
- Hazardous Area Certification: Compliant with ATEX, IECEx, and North American (CSA/NRTL/C) Zone 2/Class I, Div 2 certifications, suitable for installation in control rooms in flammable and explosive environments such as oil refineries and chemical plants.
- API 670 Compliance: As part of the 3500 system, its design fully complies with the stringent reliability requirements of the API 670 standard for mechanical protection systems.
- Functional Safety: Although the TDI primarily handles communication, its underlying architecture supports the overall 3500 system achieving SIL 2 level functional safety requirements.
- Long-distance transmission across plant areas: When the 3500 frame is located next to the field unit, while the host computer (System 1 or DCS) is located in the central control room several kilometers away, fiber optics is the only reliable connection method.
- High-voltage interference environments: Near large motors, frequency converters, or high-voltage switchgear, fiber optic transmission ensures the real-time nature of unit vibration data and is not affected by high-frequency noise.
- Offshore platforms and applications: In salt spray and humid environments, fiber optic connections are more corrosion-resistant than copper cables and have extremely low signal loss.
- Multi-frame networking: Used to aggregate data from multiple 3500 frames to a unified unit status monitoring server (System 1).
- High-speed bandwidth: Provides 100 Mbps (100Base-FX) full-duplex communication bandwidth, capable of processing transient data (static, waveform, spectrum), ensuring complete data acquisition in alarm states.
- Fiber Optic Specifications: Interface Type: Typically uses MT-RJ or SC connectors. Transmission Distance: When using multimode fiber, the transmission distance can reach 2 kilometers (far exceeding the 100-meter limit of Ethernet copper cables).
- System Stability: The fiber optic interface reduces the probability of unexpected system tripping or false alarms due to communication line failures.
- Real-time Data Acquisition: Supports multiple static data updates per second for the 3500 system and on-demand high-frequency waveform data collection, greatly improving the efficiency of unit fault diagnosis.
