Features:
- Interface Between the Machine Vibration Source and 4-20 mA Control Loop
- Combines Capability of Eddy Current Vibration Sensing with Loop-Powered Signal Transmission
- Operates in Conjunction with the NSv Series Probes and Standard PLC/DCS Systems
The 990-08-XX-01-00 MOD:283278-01 operates as the Universal Vibration Transmitter in industrial machinery applications, providing reliable 4-20 mA vibration signals to all control systems within the plant. It continuously accepts input from 3300 NSv proximity probes (0-8 mil pp, 5 Hz to 6,000 Hz) and converts these mechanical vibration signals to proportional current loop outputs for seamless integration with PLCs and DCSs. Seamless signal transmission is standard with the 99008, however using an optional Extended Cable Configuration will allow installation flexibility up to 7.0 meters in the event of a remote probe location. The 99008 has made improvements in several areas over previous vibration transmitter designs in addition to incorporating universal 2-wire loop-powered capability within hazardous area installations.
The 99008 provides essential vibration monitoring functions common to the entire machine train, and is a critical component of the protection path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall machinery system. One or two 99008 transmitters are required per measurement point depending on the desired redundancy level. The 99008 occupies only a single DIN rail mounting position in the panel and is always located in the dedicated transmitter slots (standard 35mm DIN rail, far left position in the monitoring chain).
For Dual Redundant Vibration Monitoring applications, the 990 System requires a second 99008 transmitter module installed in the redundant measurement position. In addition to standard single transmitter operation, the redundant configuration also performs automatic signal validation. The 990 dual transmitter configuration executes failover using the internal comparison circuitry specified in the transmitter options. Using this method, the redundant vibration system continually monitors the health of both transmitters. If the system detects that the primary transmitter is no longer providing stable output (outside configured vibration/tolerance levels), it will automatically transfer the control signal to the secondary transmitter and place an event in the System Event List.
The 990-08-XX-01-00 MOD:283278-01 Bently Nevada high‑performance 2‑wire vibration transmitter may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- PROX OUT (Dynamic Signal Interface): A coaxial connector on the top of the transmitter allows for the output of unisolated dynamic sensor signals.
- Loop Verification (Test Input): Equipped with a test input pin, it allows for quick verification of the 4-20 mA loop output's functionality using a function generator to simulate signals.
- Status Monitoring (Not OK/Signal Defeat): Includes a built-in "Not OK" circuit. This circuit prevents erroneous high output signals or false alarms if the sensor probe is damaged or the connection is loose.
- Signal type: Standard 4-20 mA DC current.
- Correspondence: The current value linearly corresponds to the machine's vibration amplitude (e.g., 4mA corresponds to 0 vibration, 20mA corresponds to full scale).
- Receiver: Analog input card directly connected to a PLC, DCS, or SCADA system.
- Solenoid Valve Circuit Monitoring: The TRPG board provides a negative 125V DC power supply to the tripped solenoid valve. It features nine relays, typically grouped in a "2-out-of-3" logic for fault-tolerant protection.
- Fault Detection and Isolation: The system continuously monitors relay status, feedback signals, and I/O communications. Diagnostic alarms are triggered upon detecting memory test failures, invalid messages, or communication reception errors.
- Flame Monitoring and Diagnosis: In gas turbine applications, the TRPG board monitors the Geiger-Mueller flame detector. It can diagnose whether photodetection is obstructed by carbon buildup or other impurities.
- Hardware Protection: The board is equipped with metal oxide varistors (MOVs) as current suppressors to protect the circuitry from voltage surges.
