Features:

  • Interface Between Analog Field Signals and Series 90-30 PLC Backplane
  • Combines Capability of Single-Ended/Bipolar Mode Operation with Configurable Voltage Ranges
  • Operates in Conjunction with Logicmaster 90-30/20/Micro, CIMPLICITY Control, and Hand-Held Programmer Configuration Tools
The IC693ALG222C operates as the Analog Input Module in a Series 90-30 rack, providing reliable analog signal acquisition to the PLC system. It continuously converts incoming voltage signals (0 to +10 V unipolar or –10 to +10 V bipolar) to digital counts and transmits this data through the rack backplane to support real-time process control of all output modules and CPU operations. Seamless range configuration is standard with the IC693ALG222C, however using alternative input modes through configuration software will allow flexible scaling for various industrial sensor types and applications. The IC693ALG222C has made improvements in several areas over previous analog input designs in addition to incorporating user-configurable voltage range capability within the Series 90-30 rack.

The IC693ALG222C provides essential analog input functions common to the entire control system, and is a critical component of the signal acquisition path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall PLC system. One IC693ALG222C analog input module requires a maximum of 112 mA from the 5 V bus on the PLC backplane, and up to 41 mA from the backplane's isolated +24 VDC supply to power the onboard power converter. The IC693ALG222C occupies one full slot in the rack and can be mounted in any I/O slot of a 5-slot or 10-slot baseplate within the Series 90-30 system.

For Flexible Analog Input applications, the Series 90-30 System utilizes the IC693ALG222C analog input module installed in any available I/O slot. In addition to standard single-ended operation, the IC693ALG222C also performs automatic diagnostics and status indication. The IC693ALG222C dual LED configuration executes status monitoring using the MODULE OK and Power Supply OK indicators specified in the module specifications. Using this method, the analog input system continually monitors the health of both module configuration and internal power generation. If the system detects that the IC693ALG222C is no longer operating correctly (such as during failed power-up diagnostics or configuration timeout), it will automatically signal the fault condition through LED flashing patterns and place the module in a known safe state.

The IC693ALG222C General Electric Analog Input Module may still be available for purchase and support from authorized distributors beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM)..

Description
IC693ALG222C is an analog input module for the Series 90-30 PLC system by General Electric. The module’s default configuration operates in single-ended, unipolar mode, with user data scaled so that 0 volts corresponds to a count of 0 and 10 volts corresponds to a count of +32,000. Alternative input modes and voltage ranges can be configured through Logicmaster 90-30/20/Micro, CIMPLICITY Control configurator software, or the Hand-Held Programmer. One configurable option is bipolar mode, with a range of –10 to +10 V, where –10 V corresponds to –32,000 counts, 0 V corresponds to 0 counts, and +10 V corresponds to +32,000 counts. High and low alarm limits can be set for all ranges, and ranges can be configured individually for each channel.

IC693ALG222C requires a maximum of 112 mA from the 5 V bus on the PLC backplane, and up to 41 mA from the backplane’s isolated +24 VDC supply to power the onboard power converter. This converter generates isolated ±5 V supplies for the module’s user-side circuitry. The module includes two green LED indicators for status monitoring. The top LED, labeled MODULE OK, shows module status during power-up: ON indicates the module is configured and operating correctly; OFF indicates no backplane power or a software timeout; continuous rapid flashing signals that configuration data has not been received from the CPU; slow flashes followed by OFF indicate failed power-up diagnostics or a code execution error. The bottom LED, labeled Power Supply OK, indicates that the internally generated user-side +5 V supply is above the minimum required level.

IC693ALG222C can be installed in any I/O slot of a 5-slot or 10-slot baseplate within a Series 90-30 PLC system, providing flexible placement options for integration into industrial control applications.
