Features:
- Controls eight current-loop outputs from one external supply
- Offers configurable zero or hold-last-state output defaults
- Returns optional module and channel diagnostics to the BIU
IC670ALG330 can exchange up to eight analog output words, four bytes of diagnostic input data, and two bytes of fault-clearing output data with its Bus Interface Unit.
Channel activation controls both the physical output and alarm updates: an inactive IC670ALG330 channel goes to 0 mA, while existing diagnostic bits remain available to be cleared.
The available load is not a single fixed value across all conditions. Compare supply voltage, ambient temperature, and required loop resistance with the published derating information.

Loop Command Structure:
- Channel count: Eight single-ended outputs share the module external power source.
- Command range: Normal operation covers 0 to 20 mA with additional overrange to about 20.48 mA.
- Load envelope: User load may reach 1250 Ω only when supply voltage and thermal conditions permit.
- Individual setup: Scaling, channel activation, and local default behavior are configurable per output.
Current Conversion Characteristics:
- Converter resolution: The analog output path is specified at 16 bits with 14-bit magnitude data.
- Current increment: Maximum-resolution operation corresponds to 0.3125 µA per count.
- Output refresh: A channel updates in approximately 1.5 ms under normal operation.
- Rated accuracy: Typical accuracy at 25°C is 0.05%, with a 0.1% maximum specification.
Stored Fault Information:
- Module status: Diagnostic bits identify calibration, command, BIU timeout, and missing user-supply conditions.
- Range alarms: Separate status bits report under- and overrange states for each output channel.
- Loop continuity: Open-wire bits are available for all eight current outputs.
- Clearing method: Optional discrete output commands clear stored alarm and diagnostic bits after the cause is corrected.
