Features:
- Two independent bipolar channels deliver -10 to +10 VDC commands.
- Twelve-bit resolution represents both sign and magnitude for bidirectional control.
- External-power and terminal diagnostics shorten analog fault isolation.
Bipolar output is useful where the sign of the command selects direction. Hardware polarity, PLC scaling, and the receiving device interpretation must all agree before the controlled equipment is enabled.
The low output impedance supports a stable voltage reference into a compatible load, while the published current limit constrains what the module can drive directly.
A complete loop test includes negative full scale, zero, and positive full scale. This exposes sign errors and offsets that a single positive test cannot reveal.

Relating PLC data to direction and magnitude
- Negative command: One side of the code range represents reverse or negative demand.
- Zero point: Midscale behavior should correspond to the intended neutral condition.
- Positive command: The opposite side produces positive output toward full scale.
- Receiver agreement: Make field-device scaling match the PLC sign convention.
Conditions for a valid ±10 V reference
- Impedance: Use a receiving load compatible with the documented output capability.
- Current limit: Do not use the analog output as a power source for the field device.
- Polarity: Preserve output and return connections during replacement.
- Shielding: Maintain the intended cable shield and grounding arrangement.
Proving direction before process release
- Negative test: Apply a limited reverse command and verify measured polarity.
- Zero test: Check the receiver for offset at the neutral command.
- Positive test: Confirm magnitude and direction at a safe forward value.
- Record results: Retain command, measured voltage, and receiver response.
Tracing a missing or fixed output
- External supply: Verify 24 VDC at the module.
- Terminal block: Reseat the removable assembly and inspect contacts.
- PLC word: Confirm the correct output reference changes.
- Field receiver: Measure at the device to locate an open or wiring reversal.
