Features:
- Thirty-two positive-logic channels accept compatible low-voltage AC or DC input sources.
- Four eight-point banks each use one shared common for organized field referencing.
- Status indicators support point observation and starting-address confirmation at the rack.
IC655MDL512 is useful where low-voltage AC and DC sensing must coexist by group, provided each eight-point bank keeps a clearly identified source type and common.
A whole bank failing together directs the investigation toward its shared reference, while one missing signal should be traced through the field device and assigned terminal.
Commissioning should establish the starting address first, then verify bank sources and representative channel transitions before the full input set is returned to automatic control.

Assigning AC and DC Sources by Bank
- Source type: Identify whether each eight-point group receives AC or DC before field conductors are landed.
- Positive logic: Match the field-device switching direction to the common and input arrangement.
- Separate banks: Different groups may use independent compatible sources when their commons stay correctly assigned.
- Voltage under load: Measure at the terminal block while the circuit operates to expose supply drop.
Maintaining Reliable Grouped Inputs
- Ambient check: Use the temperature at the occupied rack, including heat from neighboring modules.
- On-point load: Consider how many channels remain energized together during the machine cycle.
- Wire separation: Keep low-voltage AC and DC bank conductors identified and routed consistently.
- Ventilation: Preserve clearance around the rack so heat does not accumulate across the input modules.
Separating a Point Fault from a Group Fault
- Single signal: Compare the field voltage and matching LED before reviewing controller logic.
- Eight signals: Test the bank common and source because both are shared by the group.
- Address display: Confirm the starting I/O address when the LED pattern and PLC table do not align.
- Controlled baseline: Record normal bank activity so later maintenance can identify an abnormal group loss.
Preserving Four Common-Based Wiring Sections
- Bank labels: Mark A through D and every associated conductor before the block is released.
- Common identity: Keep each group common with its own eight field inputs.
- Mechanical keying: Retain the positions that prevent the wired block from mating with a different module type.
- Sequential test: Restore one bank at a time and compare all eight points with the controller map.
