Description
The GE IS200EPDMG1A is an Exciter Power Distribution Module (EPDM) in the General Electric (GE) EX2100/MarkVI excitation control system. It distributes the main power supply (125VDC) and AC backup power supply (115VAC) in the excitation control cabinet to various sub-modules within the system (including protection boards, I/O modules, control boards, etc.).

This module, in conjunction with a DACA (AC-DC converter), rectifies and filters the 115VAC AC power supply to 125VDC, serving as the system's P125V/N125V DC source output to provide stable power to multiple control boards. The IS200EPDMG1A is typically mounted on the side of the EPBP (Exciter Power Backplane) and interfaces with multiple downstream modules via onboard pin connectors and power switches/indicator lights.

This module provides a center-grounded ±62.5V nominal DC voltage output and is equipped with an on/off switch and LED indicator lights, which helps field engineers to intuitively monitor the power supply status. It can also be used in conjunction with other excitation modules such as EPSM, EGPA, and EXTB to ensure the excitation control system continues to operate stably under the conditions of switching between main power and backup power.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
What is the GEIS200EPDMG1A module?
It is the Exciter Power Distribution Module in the GE EX2100/MarkVI series exciter control system. It converts and distributes the system's main power and backup power to various internal daughterboards.
What are its main functions?
It rectifies and regulates the input 115VAC AC power to 125VDC via a DCA converter, grounds it, and forms a P125V/N125V output to power downstream control, protection, and I/O boards. It also provides on/off control and status indication.
Which downstream modules does it support?
It can provide DC power to boards such as EGPA (Gate Pulse Board), EXTB (Excitation Terminal Board), and EPSM (Excitation Power Module).
How is this module installed?
It is typically installed on the side of the EPBP (Exciter Power Backplane) and connected to the backplane and other modules via pins.
Is hot-swapping allowed?
Hot-swapping must follow the power outage and operation procedures for the control cabinet. It is generally not recommended to plug or unplug while the power is on.
Is a warranty provided?
Yes, most suppliers offer a standard 12-month warranty.
