Features:
- Two isolated RS485 channels
- 300 to 57,600 baud operation
- Dedicated processor and dual-port memory
F8621A handles serial communication tasks independently of the main H41q or H51q safety processor.
Galvanic isolation and dedicated processing support two half-duplex links while dual-port memory transfers the resulting data to the central system.
Protocol, baud rate, addressing, termination, rack position, and coexistence with other coprocessors must be preserved from the working configuration.
Official HIMA documentation and quotation assistance for the HIMA F8621A HIQuad Communication Coprocessor are available through Apter Power.

Two isolated RS485 communication channels
- Port count: F8621A provides two half-duplex RS485 interfaces for serial data exchange.
- Isolation: Galvanic separation limits direct electrical coupling between the communication channels and the safety-system electronics.
- Dedicated processor: An onboard communication processor handles serial activity independently from the central H41q or H51q processor.
- Selectable rates: Software can select 300 through 57,600 bit/s from the documented transmission-rate set.
- Interface switches: S1 through S4 must retain the permitted RS485 settings for interface 1 and interface 2.
Memory and coprocessor operation
- Microprocessor: The module uses an HD 64180 processor operating at 10 MHz for its communication tasks.
- Program storage: CMOS RAM and EPROM resources provide 384 kB of static memory for operating software and buffered data.
- Battery support: RAM retention is supplied through the F7131 monitoring module in H51q or the rear-board buffer batteries in H41q.
- Dual-port memory: A dual-port RAM path allows fast alternating data access between F8621A and the central module.
- Host offload: Serial protocol processing is separated from the main safety CPU so communication handling does not consume the same execution path.
Using F8621A in H41q and H51q
- Supported systems: The coprocessor is documented for H41q and H51q systems beginning with the specified operating-system release.
- H51q slots: In an H51q central rack, F8621A is restricted to communication positions CM1 through CM3.
- Module width: The hardware occupies four slot units within the approved central subrack arrangement.
- Rack supply: Operating power is drawn from the 5 VDC rack supply at the documented current demand.
- Parallel modules: Combination with F8627 or F8628 requires the applicable communication function block and supported software version.
Serial projects using F8621A
- Process-control links: Redundant RS485 paths can connect H41q or H51q stations to compatible process-control equipment through the prescribed interface hardware.
- Modbus exchange: Serial Modbus slave communication is supported, with HIMA recommending 9.6 or 57.6 kbit/s instead of 19.2 kbit/s for this module.
- HIPRO-S networks: HIPRO-S/N communication uses the coprocessor where the approved safety-network architecture calls for the serial path.
- Engineering bus: An ELOP II bus can be connected with the documented BV 7046 cable arrangement.
- Gateway integration: Operator stations or protocol gateways can exchange approved non-safety data when addressing, termination, and message timing are configured correctly.
