Features:
- Three axial cooling fans
- Redundant supply inputs
- Fan and voltage monitoring
K9203A moves cooling air across the approved HIQuad X rack with three monitored axial fans.
Redundant feed connections and status outputs allow loss of supply or fan performance to be detected before cabinet temperature threatens operation.
Thermal load, airflow direction, inlet and exhaust clearance, filter condition, power wiring, and alarm integration are cabinet-level design checks.
Apter Power can assist with quotations and official HIMA documentation for the HIMA K9203A HIQuad X Rack Fan Unit.

Three-fan rack ventilation
- Fan arrangement: K9203A contains three axial fans that move air through the supported HIMA rack installation.
- Rack coverage: The assembly is specified as the ventilation option for the associated HIQuad X and Planar 4 hardware arrangements.
- Forced airflow: Cooling performance depends on a continuous inlet-to-exhaust path across the populated subrack.
- Heat removal: The fan unit addresses thermal load from processor, power, communication, and densely populated I/O modules.
- Service planning: A degrading fan must be corrected before cabinet temperature exceeds the operating envelope of the installed modules.
Redundant power and fan supervision
- Dual feeds: K9203A uses a redundant supply arrangement so a single feed loss need not stop all rack ventilation.
- Voltage monitoring: Supply-voltage supervision detects a power-path problem affecting the cooling assembly.
- Fan monitoring: The cabinet design can report fan operating status for maintenance and alarm handling.
- Alarm response: Loss of one cooling element triggers evaluation of remaining airflow and cabinet temperature rather than blind continued operation.
- Power coordination: Both feeds, protective devices, and alarm contacts are documented as part of the rack power concept.
Positioning the K9203A fan unit
- Rack location: The ventilation assembly is installed in the position defined by the HIMA rack drawing so airflow reaches the full module set.
- Direction control: Fan orientation must preserve the documented inlet and exhaust direction through the cabinet.
- Clearances: Cable ducts, blanking plates, filters, and door components must not obstruct the cooling path.
- Electrical isolation: Both supply inputs are isolated and verified before the fan unit or its wiring is serviced.
- Post-service check: Fan rotation, monitoring, voltage alarm, and cabinet temperature are checked after replacement.
Cabinets using K9203A
- HIQuad X racks: The fan assembly supports 19-inch HIQuad X racks where populated modules require forced ventilation.
- Planar 4 systems: K9203A is also listed as an optional ventilation module for certified Planar 4 assemblies.
- High-density safety cabinets: Emergency-shutdown and fire-and-gas racks use the unit when processor and I/O heat must be removed continuously.
- Monitored cooling schemes: Installations requiring redundant fan power and voltage supervision use K9203A as part of the cabinet alarm strategy.
