Features:
- Main Processing Interface Between Trusted TMR System and Analogue/Digital I/O Modules
- Integrates Triple Modular Redundant Architecture with Hardware Fault Tolerance
- Coordinates with Multiple I/O Modules Across the TMR Inter-Module Communications Bus
Trusted System architecture, providing overall system control and monitoring facilities. It seamlessly processes input and output data received from a variety of analogue and digital Input/Output (I/O) modules across the Trusted TMR Inter-Module Communications Bus. The T8111C integrates Triple Modular Redundant (TMR), fault-tolerant (3-2-0) operation with Hardware Implemented Fault Tolerant (HIFT) architecture, ensuring continuous system availability even in the event of internal processor faults. The T8111C has made significant improvements in several areas over previous processor designs in addition to incorporating dedicated hardware and software test regimes within the Trusted System.
The T8111C provides essential processing and control functions common to the entire Trusted System, and is a critical component of the safety and monitoring path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall control system. One or two T8111C processors may be configured per system depending on the desired redundancy level. The T8111C occupies its designated position within the Trusted rack and serves as the primary decision-making hub for all system operations.
For Dual Redundant Processor applications, the Trusted System may deploy a second T8111C processor module to enhance availability. In addition to standard single processor operation, the redundant configuration also performs automatic switchover. The Trusted dual processor configuration executes failover using the internal TMR circuitry specified in the Trusted architecture. Using this method, the redundant processor system continually monitors the health of all three processing channels. If the system detects that the primary processing channel is no longer providing stable output (outside configured fault/tolerance levels), it will automatically transfer control to the remaining healthy channels and place an event in the time-stamped fault historian.
The T8111C ICS TRIPLEX TMR Processor module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
