Features:
- Bridge Between the Universal AC Power Source and Trusted Power Shelf Backplane
- Integrates AC/DC Power Conversion with n+1 Redundant and Hot-Swappable Power Support
- Functions Alongside Trusted TMR Processors and Standard I/O Modules
The ICS TRIPLEX T8231 Power Pack operates as the Universal AC Power Supply in a Trusted Power System shelf, providing reliable 24 Vdc power to all modules within the Trusted TMR architecture. T8231 continuously converts incoming AC power (85–264 Vac, 47–63 Hz) to regulated 24 Vdc (adjustable 24–28 Vdc) and distributes this power through the Power Shelf backplane to support steady-state operation of all Trusted processors and I/O modules. Seamless power delivery is standard with the T8231; however, deploying multiple units in a Power Shelf enables n+1 redundancy with automatic current sharing should a primary power pack fail. T8231 incorporates active power factor correction and load-sharing control, representing improvements over previous power supply designs in addition to incorporating universal input voltage capability within the Trusted system.
T8231 provides essential power functions common to the entire Trusted rack, and is a critical component of the safety control path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall Trusted TMR system. One or more T8231 Power Packs are required per Power Shelf depending on the desired capacity and redundancy level. Each T8231 occupies a slot within the 1U Power Shelf (43 mm height by 483 mm width by 340 mm depth) and mounts in a standard 19-inch rack configuration.
For n+1 redundant power applications, the Trusted System requires additional T8231 Power Packs installed in the redundant slots of the Power Shelf. In addition to standard single-supply operation, the redundant configuration also performs automatic load sharing and failover. The Trusted redundant power configuration executes redundancy using the internal current-sharing and diagnostic circuitry specified in the power system options. Using this method, the redundant power system continually monitors the health of all T8231 supplies through the Power Port interface. If the system detects that a primary T8231 Power Pack is no longer providing stable output (outside configured voltage/tolerance levels, or in the event of over-temperature/fan failure), it will automatically redistribute the load to the remaining supplies and report the fault condition via relay contacts.
The T8231 ICS TRIPLEX Trusted Power Pack module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
