Features:
- Employs three isolated, parallel channels operating in 2oo3 voting. A single channel failure does not affect system operation.
- All critical I/O is triplicated and voted upon. Includes comprehensive diagnostics for open-circuit, short-circuit, and cross-channel discrepancies.
- Supports online replacement without system shutdown or process interruption. Automatic synchronization of new modules with the existing system.
The T8151C is built upon the Trusted TMR architecture, which provides the highest level of fault tolerance for safety-critical applications. Inside the module, three independent, isolated hardware channels operate in parallel, each receiving the same input signal or executing the same output command. The system employs a 2oo3 (two-out-of-three) voting mechanism, meaning that as long as at least two of the three channels agree on the state, the correct signal is passed to the controller or field device.
The T8151C continuously performs comprehensive diagnostic tests to verify the integrity of its I/O circuits. These diagnostics include open-circuit detection on field wiring, short-circuit detection between channels or to ground, and cross-channel discrepancy checking to identify faults within the triplicated hardware. If a discrepancy is detected between the three channels, the system automatically votes out the faulty channel and raises an alarm, allowing maintenance to be scheduled without interrupting the safety function.
The T8151C supports true hot-swapping (online replacement), allowing a faulty module to be removed and replaced without powering down the system or interrupting the safety function of other modules in the chassis. When a new T8151C is inserted, the system automatically detects the module, verifies its firmware compatibility, and synchronizes its configuration with the existing TMR system. The new module then joins the voting set and begins operating immediately. This capability is critical for maintaining high availability in continuous process industries where shutdowns are extremely costly.
The T8151C ICS TRIPLEX Interface Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond
End-Of-Life (EOL)by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Integrated Control & Safety Systems (ICSS): Connects a plant's main Emergency Shutdown System (ESD) to third-party distributed control systems (DCS) like Honeywell Experion, Yokogawa Centum, or Siemens PCS7.
- Fire and Gas (F&G) Management: Consolidates status logs and hazardous gas alarms across the entire plant floor and maps them upstream to central SCADA systems.
- High-Integrity Pressure Protection Systems (HIPPS): Facilitates the ultra-fast transfer of chronological data logs—such as Sequence of Events (SOE) records—to data historian servers without lagging safety processes.
- Cyber & Processing Isolation:The T8151C utilizes an independent on-board dual-processor architecture. All external protocol stacks (e.g., Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, DNP3) are managed strictly on this module. If a malicious network broadcast storm occurs, the T8151C absorbs the load, ensuring the main safety processors (e.g., T8110C) maintain 0% disruption.
- Electrical Galvanic Isolation:All communication ports—including the 2 Ethernet ports and 4 serial ports—feature built-in 1.5 kV opto-isolation. This physically shields the internal system backplane from dangerous field ground loops, lightning surges, or short circuits.
- Line Integrity & Watchdog Supervisions:An integrated hardware watchdog timer continuously tracks the health of the communication chips. If a firmware freeze occurs, the module forces a soft reset. It also performs continuous CRC error verification and active timeout checks on connected networks.
- Live Hot-Swapping (Online Replacement):The T8151C fully supports runtime hot-swapping. You can extract a faulty module and slide in a replacement without powering down the controller chassis or dropping live process lines.
- Physical Mounting & Low-Impedance Grounding:Slide the card vertically along the guide rails of the main controller chassis until the high-density rear connectors are fully seated. Always tighten both the top and bottom mechanical thumb screws firmly. This guarantees structural vibration resistance and creates a low-resistance chassis ground path.
- Fast Device Replacement (FDR) Integration:When inserting a blank, brand-new T8151C into the chassis, the active main processors recognize the slot position via the TMR backplane. The system automatically downloads the predefined network profile—including IP addresses, Modbus slave IDs, and baud rates—from the master Toolbox/Workbench project. No manual code compilation or re-addressing is needed on-site.
