More Information

Overview Manuals Station Scope Network Data Bus Layout Product Applications

Features:

  • Manager position: Organizes one FX controller’s exchange with its CC-Link stations.
  • Mixed station support: Serves remote I/O as well as eligible remote-device and intelligent-device nodes.
  • Network-wide scope: One manager serves a machine-wide collection of remote points rather than a single field contact.
FX3U-16CCL-M is fitted where an FX machine uses CC-Link to place signals and device data away from the main PLC cabinet.

The block has one controller-side role while each remote station retains its own field-device and power context.

A replacement decision therefore depends on the installed station types and physical segment as well as the exact master order code.

  • Remote I/O: Distributed input and output stations take their place in the master’s station plan.
  • Remote devices: Cyclic device data is assigned separately from simple I/O point exchange.
  • Intelligent stations: FX3U-64CCL and other supported nodes require their own occupied-station allocation.
  • Occupied positions: Station type and occupancy determine how the network address plan is laid out.
  • Cyclic exchange: The manager passes remote bits and words between the bus and the FX application.
  • Program mapping: Controller logic must read and write the assigned module data areas.
  • Link diagnostics: Network status identifies whether configured stations are participating in exchange.
  • Project dependency: Station parameters and PLC logic together define the machine’s data meaning.
  • Physical chain: The CC-Link segment joins stations through a bus rather than independent point-to-point links.
  • Termination: Both ends of the installed segment need the approved end treatment.
  • Station power: Remote nodes have local supply needs separate from the manager’s PLC-side connection.
  • Noise exposure: Cable routing and shield practice affect communication reliability near high-power machinery.
  • Distributed machine I/O: Links remote inputs and outputs to an FX controller.
  • Intelligent CC-Link devices: Exchanges cyclic data with qualified intelligent stations.
  • Conveyor equipment: Distributes I/O modules across a conveyor line as described in Mitsubishi’s system overview.
  • Existing FX networks: Restores the manager position in a documented CC-Link installation.
Description
FX3U-16CCL-M provides the CC-Link manager-station position for a supported FX controller. It is the point from which the PLC exchanges cyclic data with remote I/O and intelligent stations across an installed machine network.

A link built around FX3U-16CCL-M depends on both the physical bus and the station allocation stored in the controller project. The controller application interprets that cyclic exchange as machine signals, so a replacement is more than a like-for-like hardware fit.

In an installed line, FX3U-16CCL-M is part of a coordinated network of powered stations. Restoring one manager can affect many remote machine points at once; commissioning therefore belongs to the complete network, not to the block in isolation.

Technical notes
On FX5U and FX5UC controllers, Mitsubishi requires an FX5-CNV-BUS or FX5-CNV-BUSC converter to connect FX3U-16CCL-M. The converter is selected for the actual system configuration; the block alone is not a complete migration kit. Stop a proposed FX5 installation until the CPU variant, bus converter and module position are matched in the OEM connection scheme.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
All stations drop offline after FX3U-16CCL-M replacement. Where should the fault search begin?
Begin at the manager: read its error indication and line-test result before replacing individual remote nodes. The result identifies whether the next test belongs at the master or a specified station.
After GX Works2 network parameters are sent to FX3U-16CCL-M, can commissioning accept the old live link state?
No. The master loads its network parameters when the PLC is powered on. Restart through the machine’s approved safe-stop procedure, then prove that the intended stations participate before releasing dependent outputs.
An FX3U-16CCL-M is present on an FX3U controller, but GX Works2 network-parameter functions are unavailable. Is the block defective?
Not necessarily. Basic FX3U/FX3UC support begins at CPU version 2.20, while the manual lists version 3.10 and GX Works2 1.73B or later for the specified network-parameter functions. Confirm both software and CPU levels before replacing the block.
A remote station on FX3U-16CCL-M drops out, but its old input value remains in the PLC. Is that a live field state?
No. The manager can retain receive data for a failed station under the selected disorder behavior. Treat the station diagnosis and data-validity state as decisive; a held RX value is not proof the remote contact is still active.
A machine builder wants to add a fifth intelligent station to FX3U-16CCL-M on an FX3G PLC. Is the existing plan sufficient?
No. Mitsubishi limits the remote-device or intelligent-station count to four with FX3G/FX3GC. Redesign the network or controller arrangement before ordering the additional station; a spare master does not raise that limit.
During a planned PLC STOP, FX3U-16CCL-M still shows link activity. Can maintenance infer that every remote output is frozen?
No. At CPU STOP, RY may refresh or be forcibly cleared according to the selected setting, while RWw continues to refresh. Prove the site’s configured STOP response at the field circuit; link activity alone is not an output-safety indication.
