Overview Manuals Field Wiring Safety Circuit Control Inputs Block Structure

Features:

  • Left-side cable access distinguishes this I/O block from the rear-entry OS32C wiring block.
  • Power, control inputs, safety outputs, feedback, and status signals share the field-wiring interface.
  • The detachable sensor block leaves the machine-side wiring organized on the I/O block.
Machine power and commands enter through the field cable before reaching the attached OS32C sensor section.

The OSSD pair and EDM return create separate outgoing and feedback paths for the supervised safety circuit.

Keeping the optical head and wiring block as separate sections allows the sensor portion to be identified independently from the installed cable direction.

The Omron OS32C-CBSP1 Left-Side Cable-Entry Replacement I/O Block may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Routing machine connections through the side-entry block

  • Supply pair: The 24 V DC and 0 V conductors power the assembled scanner through the I/O block.
  • Zone conductors: Eight selection inputs choose the configured safety and warning-field set.
  • Control conductors: Separate start and standby inputs carry their assigned machine commands.
  • Cable direction: The connector exits from the left when the block is viewed from the rear.

Separating the stop command from external-device feedback

  • OSSD A and B: The paired PNP outputs deliver the scanner's protective state to the downstream safety path.
  • EDM return: Feedback from the forced-guided external devices returns through the dedicated monitoring input.
  • Output limit: Each OSSD carries no more than the documented 250 mA load.
  • Signal separation: Warning and auxiliary outputs remain non-safety indications and do not replace the OSSD pair.

Assigning field selections and operating commands

  • Zone selection: The eight input lines encode which stored field combination is active.
  • Start path: The start input follows the configured automatic or interlocked restart behavior.
  • Standby path: The standby input places the scanner in its documented standby condition.
  • Input reference: Each command is wired against the documented 0 V or 24 V state for that function.

Keeping field wiring separate from the optical sensor section

  • I/O section: The block contains the machine-side power, input, feedback, and output connections.
  • Sensor interface: The OS32C sensor block joins the I/O block to complete the scanner hardware.
  • Entry variant: OS32C-CBSP1 creates the side-entry arrangement, while the separate CBBP variant uses rear entry.
  • Service boundary: The sensor block can be identified separately without redefining the installed field-cable direction.
Description
Omron OS32C-CBSP1 is a replacement I/O block for the OS32C safety laser scanner, providing the left-side cable-entry section that connects the scanner assembly to machine power and control wiring.

Through its power and I/O connection, OS32C-CBSP1 carries 24 V DC, eight zone-selection inputs, start and standby commands, and the auxiliary and warning signals between the machine circuit and the attached sensor block.

The two OSSD paths of OS32C-CBSP1 deliver the protective-stop state to the downstream safety circuit, while the EDM input returns the operating state of the external switching devices for comparison by the scanner.

With cable access viewed from the left side, OS32C-CBSP1 forms the field-wiring half of a side-entry OS32C assembly and remains separate from the replaceable optical sensor block.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
Which cable-entry direction does OS32C-CBSP1 provide?
Viewed from the rear, OS32C-CBSP1 routes the power and I/O cable from the left side; the CBBP variant uses rear entry.
Does OS32C-CBSP1 include the optical sensor block?
No. OS32C-CBSP1 is the I/O block only, so the required OS32C sensor block must be identified separately from the field-wiring section.
Why must both OSSD conductors from OS32C-CBSP1 be connected?
OS32C-CBSP1 provides a paired OSSD safety path; the downstream circuit must evaluate both outputs rather than treating either conductor as an auxiliary signal.
What feedback should return to the EDM input on OS32C-CBSP1?
The OS32C-CBSP1 EDM conductor receives the documented state of the connected forced-guided external switching devices so their response can be supervised.
Can the warning output of OS32C-CBSP1 replace an OSSD connection?
No. The OS32C-CBSP1 warning output is a non-safety indication; protective-stop signaling remains assigned to OSSD A and OSSD B.
How are stored field sets selected through OS32C-CBSP1?
Eight zone-selection inputs on OS32C-CBSP1 encode the active configured field combination, so the wiring states must match the intended zone number.
