Features:
- The optical sensor block covers a 270-degree field with a maximum 3 m safety-zone range.
- Selectable object resolution changes the allowable protective-field distance for the detected object size.
- Eight sector indicators and a two-digit display identify interruption direction and scanner condition.
The sensor block performs the optical scan while the attached I/O block supplies power and carries machine control signals.
Seventy stored combinations let one safety zone and two warning zones be selected for the active operating condition.
Sensor firmware determines configuration-tool features, so the complete part-number and firmware label must be checked together.
The Omron OS32C-SN 3 m Replacement Sensor Block may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Relating object resolution to the configured detection distance
- Safety zone: The protective field extends to the distance permitted by the selected object resolution.
- Warning zones: Two non-safety warning fields can be stored with each safety field.
- Field sets: Seventy combinations allow the input-selected operating condition to use its assigned geometry.
- Scan coverage: The 270-degree detection angle lets the stored field follow the required machine boundary.
Turning the infrared scan into an object-interruption result
- Emission source: A 905 nm infrared laser diode generates the scanning beam.
- Angular sampling: The scan is evaluated at the documented 0.4-degree angular resolution.
- Object setting: The selected 30, 40, 50, or 70 mm resolution defines the minimum detectable object for that field.
- Protective result: Detection inside the active safety zone changes the scanner state sent to the OSSD path.
Locating an interruption before reading the detailed code
- Sector ring: Eight red indicators identify the direction associated with an active field interruption.
- Status display: Two seven-segment LEDs present operating and diagnostic codes.
- State LEDs: Run, stop, interlock, and warning or auxiliary indications separate the main scanner conditions.
- Diagnostic sequence: Direction, operating state, and code are read together before checking the connected I/O signals.
Using the sensor label to select configuration-tool features
- Sensor identification: The sensor-block label provides the part number used to distinguish its firmware feature set.
- Tool release: Later configuration features require the documented minimum software version.
- Feature scope: Configurable resolution, standby behavior, imported zone data, and display options depend on the sensor version.
- I/O continuity: The documented sensor feature updates did not require a change to the separate I/O block.
