Features:
- Provides 60A for 15 ms to trip branch circuit breakers selectively; prevents total system shutdown on a single fault.
- Adjust signaling thresholds and output characteristic curves wirelessly via smartphone; no PC or software required.
- Output adjustable 12‑15V; static boost 17.5A (125%); dynamic boost 20A for 5 seconds (200%); operates -40°C to +70°C; MTBF >1.19 million hours.
In a typical industrial control cabinet, one power supply often feeds multiple downstream devices through branch fuses or circuit breakers. When a short circuit occurs on one branch, standard power supplies trip or go into current limit, causing the output voltage to collapse. This shuts down all devices on the same power supply – not just the faulty branch. The QUINT4-PS/1AC/12DC/15 solves this with SFB technology. It delivers 60A for 15 ms – enough current and duration to reliably trip miniature circuit breakers (types B2, C1‑C2, Z1‑Z6) at the branch level. The power supply remains in current‑limiting mode, but the output voltage stays above the under-voltage threshold for the healthy branches.
Configuring industrial power supplies traditionally requires a PC running software, a programming cable, and often removing the unit from service to access a configuration port. The QUINT4-PS/1AC/12DC/15 eliminates these steps with a built‑in NFC (Near Field Communication) interface. Using a standard NFC‑enabled smartphone and Phoenix Contact’s free app, engineers can read and write configuration parameters to the power supply without applying power. Settings include signaling thresholds (e.g., when the “Output power > 75%” alarm triggers), output characteristic curves (e.g., constant current vs. constant voltage behavior), and response to overload conditions.
Industrial power supplies must handle voltage sags, high ambient temperatures, and sudden load spikes. The QUINT4-PS/1AC/12DC/15 is built for these conditions. Its input accepts 100‑240V AC (±10%) and 110‑250V DC. Mains buffering time exceeds 55 ms at full load – enough to ride through short voltage dips that would reset other power supplies. The operating temperature range is -25°C to +70°C, with type‑tested start‑up at -40°C. Above 60°C, derating is 2.5%/K, so at 70°C the output current is approximately 12.5A. For applications requiring more power, Static Boost delivers 17.5A continuously (125% of nominal) – allowing system expansion without replacing the power supply.
The QUINT4-PS/1AC/12DC/15 Phoenix Contact Power Supply Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond
End-Of-Life (EOL)by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Machine Building & Automation: Powering PLCs, industrial PCs (IPCs), HMIs, and high-precision sensors.
- Process Industry: Used in oil and gas, chemical plants, and water treatment facilities due to its robust design.
- Critical Infrastructure: Ideal for railway technology, telecommunications, and renewable energy (solar/wind) monitoring systems.
- Harsh Environments: Operates in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +70°C, making it suitable for outdoor control cabinets.
- NFC Interface: A standout feature that allows you to configure signaling thresholds and output voltage characteristics wirelessly using a smartphone or the Phoenix Contact software.
- Preventive Function Monitoring: It features configurable floating signal contacts (analog/digital) that report operational status, such as output power, voltage levels, and remaining service life, before a failure occurs.
- SFB Technology (Selective Fuse Breaking): Provides up to 6 times the nominal current for 15ms. This allows standard circuit breakers to trip magnetically and instantly, isolating faulty paths while the rest of the system stays powered.
- SELV/PELV: Certified according to IEC 61010-1 and 61010-2-201 for safety extra-low voltage.
- Mains Failure Bridging: Provides a buffer time of >20ms, ensuring the system remains stable during brief power dips.
- Static Boost: Provides a continuous 125% power reserve (up to 18.75A) for system expansion.
- Dynamic Boost: Supplies up to 200% power (30A) for up to 5 seconds to start heavy inductive loads like motors or solenoid valves.
