Features:

  • Interface Between the Modicon X80 Rack Backplane and Field Devices
  • Combines Capability of High-Density Discrete Output with Positive Logic Control
  • Operates in Conjunction with the X80 Series and Standard Modicon PLCs
The BMXDDO1602 operates as the Discrete Output Module in a Modicon X80 rack, providing reliable digital output control to field devices within the system. It continuously processes 16 discrete output channels (24 VDC, 0.5 A per channel) with positive logic switching and distributes these control signals through the rack backplane to support steady state operation of all connected actuators and devices. Seamless signal integration is standard with the BMXDDO1602, however using an optional Redundant Configuration will allow enhanced system reliability in critical automation applications. The BMXDDO1602 has made improvements in several areas over previous output module designs in addition to incorporating solid-state switching capability within the X80 rack.

The BMXDDO1602 provides essential output functions common to the entire rack, and is a critical component of the control path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall automation system. One or more BMXDDO1602 modules are required per rack depending on the desired I/O expansion level. The BMXDDO1602 occupies only a single slot in the rack and can be located in any available I/O slot position (the dedicated I/O module slots).

For High-Density Output applications, the Modicon X80 System requires the BMXDDO1602 discrete output module installed in the appropriate slot. In addition to standard single module operation, the high-density configuration also performs reliable solid-state switching. The BMXDDO1602 output configuration executes control using the internal circuitry specified in the module specifications. Using this method, the output system continually monitors the health of all 16 channels. If the system detects that any output channel is operating outside configured parameters (outside voltage/current tolerance levels), it will automatically report the status and place an event in the System Event List.

The BMXDDO1602 Schneider Modicon X80 Discrete Output Module may still be available for purchase and support from authorized distributors beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
