Features:
- Thirty-two short-stroke keys send direct operator commands and use five-color status lamps.
- Standard and fail-safe digital points connect local signals through separate configured data paths.
- Two switched PROFINET ports carry control data and PROFIsafe communication in a line or MRP ring.
The KP32F PN turns physical key actions into controller inputs and displays returned machine states at the same panel position.
Safety pins can be allocated as two dual-channel SIL 3 paths or four single-channel SIL 2 paths in the safety project.
Loop-through 24 V DC power and front mounting keep network, supply and operator access within one panel assembly.
The Siemens 6AV3688-3EH47-0AX0 KP32F PN Fail-Safe Key Panel may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Pairing operator commands with local feedback
- Direct keys: Thirty-two short-stroke key states are presented as direct S7 input data.
- Color feedback: Each key lamp can use the configured red, green, blue, yellow or white indication.
- Direct LEDs: Eight separately addressable LED outputs display assigned controller states.
- Label membrane: User-defined legends identify the machine command represented by each physical key.
Assigning the four fail-safe signal pins
- SIL 3 option: The four pins form two dual-channel safety input paths when that structure is configured.
- SIL 2 option: Alternatively, four independent single-channel safety inputs can be assigned.
- PROFIsafe path: Safety states travel through the PROFIsafe communication configured for the panel.
- Project match: Wiring, channel allocation and the safety program must use the same selected arrangement.
Connecting the panel without an external switch
- Two ports: The integrated switch exposes two Industrial Ethernet/PROFINET connections.
- Line topology: One port can receive the network and the other can continue it to the next device.
- Ring option: MRP allows the two interfaces to participate in a configured media-redundancy ring.
- Port status: Separate indicators identify the connection state of each network port.
Keeping field wiring behind the protected front
- Supply range: The 24 V DC input must remain within the documented 20.4 to 28.8 V range.
- Loop-through feed: The supply can pass through the connector without being interrupted when the panel is removed.
- Front seal: The installed operator face provides IP65 and the documented NEMA protection.
- Rear boundary: The IP20 electronics remain inside the enclosure behind the panel cutout.
