Features:
- The positioning path joins encoder feedback to a -10 to +10 V servo setpoint.
- Incremental and SSI absolute encoders are accepted on the feedback interface.
- Four inputs and four outputs coordinate cams, positioning states and drive direction.
The module converts S7-300 positioning commands into an analog drive reference with a separate enable signal.
Encoder selection changes the feedback telegram or pulse path without changing the module identity.
Module exchange without a programming device is part of the documented FM 354 product configuration.
The Siemens 6ES7354-1AH01-0AE0 Servo Positioning Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

From position command to the drive
- Reference Signal: The drive setpoint spans -10 to +10 V.
- Signal Current: The analog command is specified for -3 to +3 mA.
- Enable Path: A separate controller-enable output switches the drive state.
- Ready Return: An isolated input reports that the drive controller is ready.
Choosing the feedback format
- Incremental Path: Differential A/B and zero-mark pairs carry symmetrical feedback.
- Incremental Rate: The documented pulse-input ceiling is 1 MHz.
- Absolute Path: SSI accepts DATA and clock differential pairs.
- Telegram Choice: SSI length is parameterized as 13, 21 or 25 bits.
Linking cams and motion states
- Reference Input: A reference cam establishes the positioning reference.
- Capture Inputs: Flying actual-value setting and flying measurement have defined input roles.
- Travel Outputs: Separate states report forward and reverse movement.
- Position State: One output identifies that the commanded position has been reached.
Preserving the established configuration
- Exchange Mode: The product supports module exchange without a programming device.
- Engineering Base: STEP 7 V3.1 is the documented prerequisite.
- Configuration Package: The order description includes the FM 354 configuration package.
- Field Boundary: Encoder, drive and digital signals terminate through the 20-pin front connector.
