Features:
- Single-channel conditioning supports analog full-bridge load cells.
- Digital, analog and counter signals are handled by one weighing module.
- PLC exchange uses fixed 16-byte input and output process areas.
The measurement chain turns a low-level bridge signal into a filtered weight value for the S7 program.
Local scale functions and PLC logic are connected through the SIWA_FTC function block and assigned data areas.
Serial ports, current output and digital channels let the weighing result participate in external control sequences.
The Siemens 7MH4900-3AA01 SIWAREX FTC Weighing Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Weighing-channel preparation
- Scale Type: The parameter set is selected for belt, flow or loss-in-weight operation.
- Bridge Range: The input range is matched to the connected load-cell signal.
- Calibration: Zero, characteristic and engineering-unit data define the weight conversion.
- PLC Block: FB43 SIWA_FTC connects the scale data to the user program.
Measurement and control routing
- Sensor Path: Bridge excitation and sense lines terminate at the load-cell interface.
- Conversion: Filtered measurement values enter the module data records and process image.
- Current Loop: A selected weight or process value can drive the analog output.
- Discrete Control: Digital channels exchange interlocks, commands and status signals.
Fault-location sequence
- Input Check: Overrange and connection errors are evaluated before calibration changes.
- Channel Status: Diagnostic data distinguishes module faults from process conditions.
- Output Review: Current-loop loading and digital group supply are checked independently.
- Serial Access: SIWATOOL provides a separate route for parameter and diagnostic inspection.
Continuous-weighing functions
- Belt Scale: Material flow is derived from belt load and speed information.
- Solids Flow: Throughput is evaluated for a solids flowmeter arrangement.
- Loss in Weight: Feed rate is calculated from the change in vessel weight.
- Integration: Each mode shares its results and commands with the S7 control program.
