Features:
- 4096 position steps are resolved during each shaft revolution.
- A 4096-revolution multiturn stage extends the absolute position range.
- PROFIBUS Class 2 carries position, scaling and preset data.
The encoder joins the measured shaft position to one absolute bus value.
Mechanical loading limits protect the shaft and internal bearing system.
Radial cable entries support supply and daisy-chain fieldbus wiring.
The TR Electronic CEV65M-01460 PROFIBUS Absolute Multiturn Encoder may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Relating shaft motion to the transmitted absolute value
- Single-turn count: One revolution is divided into 4096 measurable positions.
- Turn counter: The multiturn stage records 4096 completed revolutions.
- Combined value: Single-turn and multiturn data form the position delivered to the controller.
- Direction setting: The configured count direction determines whether the value rises clockwise or counterclockwise.
Keeping position exchange and bus setup on one interface
- Cyclic data: The active shaft value is transferred during normal PROFIBUS exchange.
- Class 2 parameters: Scaling, direction and preset functions follow the encoder profile.
- RS485 layer: Differential signaling carries the fieldbus frames between nodes.
- Termination: The resistor is enabled only at the physical end of the bus segment.
Protecting the encoder while transferring machine motion
- Coupling: The 10 mm shaft connects the measured mechanism to the encoder.
- Axial force: Load along the shaft remains within the documented 40 N limit.
- Radial force: Side load remains within the documented 60 N limit.
- Speed: The connected mechanism stays below the stated maximum rotational speed.
Separating power and bus conductors at the encoder hood
- Supply: The encoder accepts the documented DC voltage range.
- Incoming bus: One radial entry carries the PROFIBUS cable from the previous node.
- Outgoing bus: A second entry continues the segment when the encoder is not last.
- Seal: Cable glands and unused entries maintain the IP65 enclosure boundary.
