Features:
- Provides 200 VA power for Yokogawa DCS field control units.
- Enables high-availability systems with two identical modules.
- Supports -20°C to 70°C operation with ISA Standard G3 option.
The PW481-50 is engineered to convert 100-120V AC input power into stable DC power for Yokogawa CENTUM VP DCS systems. With maximum power consumption of 200 VA and input frequency tolerance of 50/60 Hz ±3 Hz, the PW481-50 delivers consistent performance even under fluctuating grid conditions. The exclusive connector interface ensures secure and reliable connections. This robust power conversion capability makes the PW481-50 ideal for critical industrial applications where uninterrupted power supply is essential for maintaining process control and system availability.
The PW481-50 supports both single and dual-redundant configurations to meet varying system reliability requirements. In single configuration, the PW481-50 must be installed in slot P1. For critical applications requiring maximum uptime, two identical PW481-50 modules can be installed in slots P1 and P2 for dual-redundant power supply. This architecture ensures that if one module fails, the other continues to provide power, eliminating single points of failure and significantly enhancing system availability for continuous process operations.
The PW481-50 is available with multiple suffix code options to suit diverse installation environments. The -5 suffix provides standard type without explosion protection, while the -E suffix offers explosion protection for hazardous areas. The -1 suffix includes ISA Standard G3 option with extended temperature range from -20°C to 70°C, making the PW481-50 suitable for harsh industrial environments. Installation restrictions require the PW481-50 to be installed in specified slots P1-P2 of compatible units including FCU, FIO Node Units, and Optical ESB Bus Repeater Units.
The PW481-50 YOKOGAWA Power Supply Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond
End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Petroleum Refining & Petrochemicals: Supplies power to Field Control Units (FCUs) managing volatile distillation columns, cracking reactors, and tank farm telemetry loops.
- Thermal & Nuclear Power Generation: Serves as the base power component in turbine governing networks, boiler combustion control systems, and generator status monitors.
- LNG Facilities & Gas Processing: Deployed in LNG liquefaction plants, storage hubs, and offshore platforms to run local I/O nodes and ESD (Emergency Shutdown) data interfaces.
- Overvoltage & Overcurrent Safeguards: Built-in internal circuitry suppresses sudden electrical surges on the main utility grid, protecting delicate backplane microchips.
- Load-Sharing Redundancy Monitoring: When paired in a dual-redundant configuration (occupying slots P1 and P2), the module continuously balances current draw. If one power unit drops its output, the sister module instantaneously shoulders the full load without interrupting production.
- GREEN LED (PWR): The input line voltage and output internal Rails (5.1 V DC / 24 V DC) are working perfectly.
- Slot Mapping: The module must only be inserted into the dedicated power supply slots (labeled P1 and P2) located on the far left of compatible CENTUM racks (such as AFV30D, ANB10D, or ANB11D).
- Screw Tightening Torque: Secure the retaining screws tightly into the metal chassis framework to ensure solid structural ground paths and minimize physical vibration strain.
- Online Hot-Swappable: If one half of a dual-redundant power setup (e.g., P1) fails, it can be physically unplugged and replaced while the plant is live (hot-swapped). The partner module (P2) will maintain full loop power, preventing system downtime.
- Redundancy Model Matching: While the PW481-50 is designed as a direct replacement for the older PW481-10 module, Yokogawa explicitly prohibits mixing "-10" and "-50" modules side-by-side in the same redundant pair.
