Features:
- Operates on global AC mains or DC supplies; no configuration switches required.
- Specifically designed to maintain backup battery for Advant Master controller memory and real-time clock.
- Legal spare part for ABB Advant Master Process Control Systems placed on the market before RoHS restrictions.
The SB510 is designed for global deployment in ABB Advant Master systems. It accepts AC input from 110 to 230V at 47-60 Hz, covering all standard mains voltages (120V US, 230V Europe, etc.) without jumper changes. This eliminates the risk of connecting to the wrong voltage and reduces spare part inventory – one power supply serves facilities worldwide. Additionally, the SB510 accepts DC input from 110 to 230V, allowing it to be powered from battery banks, DC distribution systems, or photovoltaic arrays. This flexibility is particularly valuable in substations, offshore platforms, or remote facilities where DC power is more reliable than AC. For engineers maintaining legacy Advant Master systems, the universal input simplifies replacement ordering – no need to specify voltage when purchasing.
The SB510 is specifically engineered to charge a 12V, 4 Ah Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd) backup battery. In ABB Advant Master systems, this battery powers the controller’s volatile memory (program, data, and configuration) and the real-time clock during mains power interruptions. Without a functioning battery charger, the battery would deplete, and a power outage could cause complete loss of controller programming – requiring manual reloading of software and reconfiguration of setpoints. The SB510 provides the correct constant-current charging profile required by NiCd cells, preventing overcharging or undercharging. It also maintains the battery at full capacity, ready for immediate use.
The SB510 is explicitly exempt from the EU Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive 2011/65/EU under Article 2(4)(c), (e), (f), and (j). This exemption applies to spare parts for ABB Advant Master Process Control Systems that were placed on the market before RoHS restrictions took effect. As a result, the SB510 may contain restricted substances such as lead (Pb) in solder, cadmium (Cd) in the battery charging circuit components, or other materials no longer allowed in new electronic products.
The SB510 ABB Power Supply Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond
End-Of-Life (EOL)by the manufacturer (OEM).
