- Series A SERCOS interface supporting as many as sixteen compatible drives on one fiber ring
- The full sixteen-drive capacity requires an 8 Mbps ring with a 2 ms update period
- Supports position, velocity, and torque commands with 5 W maximum power dissipation
1756-M16SE is the sixteen-drive ControlLogix SERCOS interface for larger coordinated-motion systems.
At 8 Mbps, the documented limits are four drives at 0.5 ms, eight drives at 1 ms, and sixteen drives at 2 ms; a 4 Mbps ring cannot use the complete sixteen-drive capacity.
Record the Series A hardware, drive sequence, fiber route, data rate, update period, axis associations, firmware, and complete motion project before replacement.
Availability, condition, price, and shipping time for 1756-M16SE are confirmed during quotation.

- Use 8 Mbps with a 2 ms update period when the 1756-M16SE ring contains sixteen drives
- An 8 Mbps ring is limited to eight drives at 1 ms and four drives at 0.5 ms
- A 4 Mbps ring supports no more than eight drives and cannot use the full module capacity
- Record all drive catalogs, their physical ring order, and the transmit and receive fiber route
- Match every drive and fiber component to the selected 4 Mbps or 8 Mbps SERCOS configuration
- Verify optical continuity and each drive identity before enabling coordinated motion
- Confirm the Series A 1756-M16SE identity and applicable firmware before loading the archived project
- Restore the approved axis associations, update period, command modes, limits, and feedback configuration
- Prove each drive individually before commissioning the complete sixteen-drive motion group
- High-axis-count Kinetix 2000 or Kinetix 6000 systems requiring as many as sixteen SERCOS drives
- Kinetix 7000 coordinated-motion systems operating on an engineered 8 Mbps fiber ring
- Ultra3000 SERCOS installations whose drive count and update period fit the published timing table
