Features:
- Provides Reliable Connection Between 3500/42M Module And External Transducers
- Supports Multiple Proximity, Velocity And Acceleration Inputs
- Ensures Stable Signal Transmission Under Industrial Conditions
The Bently Nevada 128240-01 is a rear I/O module designed for the 3500/42M Proximitor Seismic Monitor, functioning as a critical interface between the internal processing circuitry and field transducers. It allows seamless integration of 1 to 4 proximity, velocity, or acceleration transducer signals, simplifying installation and reducing maintenance complexity.
Compared with earlier modules such as 128239‑01, the 128240-01 offers full four-channel support, higher environmental tolerance, and buffered outputs to maintain signal integrity. Its operation range from -30°C to +65°C and storage range from -40°C to +85°C, with 95% non-condensing humidity tolerance, ensures reliable performance in harsh industrial conditions.
Installed in a single full-height rear slot, the 128240-01 enhances the functionality of the 3500/42M monitor by providing consistent signal conditioning and secure external terminations. Unlike older modules that required direct frame wiring, this module improves wiring flexibility, reduces installation errors, and supports the accurate measurement and monitoring of machinery vibration and displacement.
The 128240-01 Bently Nevada Prox/Seismic I/O Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Operating Temperature Range: Standard operating temperature is -30°C to +65°C. In high-temperature environments, ensure good ventilation or air conditioning within the cabinet.
- Humidity Requirements: Adaptable to non-condensing relative humidity of 5% to 95%. For high-humidity environments or environments containing corrosive gases (such as chemical plants), it is recommended to install a protective coating or a sealed cabinet.
- Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): Meets industrial anti-interference standards. The module housing has good electromagnetic shielding capabilities, resisting electromagnetic noise generated by high-power motors or frequency converters in the field.
- Vibration/Shock Resistance: Meets industrial-grade vibration resistance standards, enabling long-term stable installation in control cabinets near rotating machinery.
- Rear Slot Alignment: This module must be installed in the rear slot corresponding to the 3500/42M main module. During installation, ensure proper pin protection and tighten the positioning screws after full insertion to achieve good grounding.
- External Terminal Connection: The 128240-01 has no terminal blocks on the back; a dedicated cable (such as the 135031 series) must be used to connect to the external terminal block. During upgrades, ensure the cable connectors are secure to prevent signal interruptions.
- Hot-Swapping Operation: Although live replacement is supported, it is recommended to bypass the protection logic of the corresponding channel before replacement to prevent transient surges during insertion/removal that could cause interlock shutdown.
- Software Synchronization Update: If upgrading from a standard I/O module to an external terminal type, the "I/O Module Type" option must be changed in the 3500 Rack Configuration software, and the configuration must be re-downloaded.
- Large Steam Turbine Generator Sets: Used to aggregate multiple radial vibration and axial displacement signals distributed across the turbine casing to a remote junction box.
- High-density cabinet management: In situations where space is limited at the back of the 3500 frame, this module allows wiring to be routed to external terminal blocks, facilitating routine signal measurements and wiring troubleshooting by maintenance personnel.
- Casing vibration monitoring (seismic): Connects to an accelerometer or velocity sensor (such as Velomitor) to monitor the vibration level of pump, fan, or motor casings.
- Explosion-proof safety isolation: Commonly used as the front-end interface for internal/external barriers in mechanical protection systems for hazardous areas such as oil pump rooms in the petrochemical industry.
