Features:

  • Primary Interface Between the Bently Nevada 3500 Rack and External Communications Systems
  • Integrates Proprietary Protocol Support with Modem Interface Capability
  • Functions in Conjunction with TDXnet, TDIX, DDIX and Standard 3500 Monitors
The Bently Nevada 135031-01 RIM I/O Module with Modem Interface serves as the Rack Interface Module in a 3500 rack, providing the essential communication gateway to all modules within the system. It continuously supports a proprietary protocol used to configure the rack and retrieve machinery information, distributing this interface capability through the rack backplane to enable configuration and data access for all monitors and modules. Seamless communication is standard with the 135031-01, and using compatible external communications processors such as TDXnet, TDIX, and DDIX will allow expanded remote connectivity and data retrieval capabilities beyond the rack itself. The 135031-01 has been designed to provide robust rack interface functions while remaining separate from the critical monitoring signal path.

The 135031-01 provides essential interface functions common to the entire rack, but is not part of the critical monitoring path, having no effect on the proper, normal operation of the overall monitor system. One 135031-01 RIM I/O Module with Modem Interface is required per rack to maintain system configuration access and external communications. The 135031-01 occupies a full-height slot in the rack and is always located in Slot 1 (positioned next to the power supplies).

For Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) applications, the 3500 System requires a TMR version of the RIM. In addition to all standard 135031-01 interface functions, the TMR RIM also performs "monitor channel comparison." The 3500 TMR configuration implements monitor voting using the setup specified in the monitor options. Using this method, the TMR RIM continually compares the outputs from three redundant monitors. If the TMR RIM detects that the information from one of those monitors is no longer within a configured percent of the information of the other two monitors, it will flag that monitor in error and place an event in the System Event List.

The 135031-01 Bently Nevada RIM I/O Module with Modem Interface may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Description
The Bently Nevada 135031-01 RIM I/O Module with Modem Interface is a critical spare component designed for the 3500/20 Rack Interface Module system. This 135031-01 module serves as the primary interface to the Bently Nevada™ 3500 rack, supporting a proprietary protocol used to configure the rack and retrieve essential machinery information. The 135031-01 must be located in slot 1 of the rack, positioned next to the power supplies, ensuring proper system initialization and communication.

This 135031-01 RIM I/O Module with Modem Interface is specifically designed to support compatible Bently Nevada external communications processors such as TDXnet, TDIX, and DDIX. While the 135031-01 provides certain functions common to the entire rack, it is not part of the critical monitoring path and has no effect on the proper, normal operation of the overall monitoring system. One 135031-01 module is required per rack to maintain full system functionality and external connectivity.

For Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) applications, the 3500 System requires a TMR version of the RIM. The 135031-01 RIM I/O Module with Modem Interface is engineered to handle standard rack interface functions, while the TMR variant performs "monitor channel comparison." In TMR configurations, the system implements monitor voting using the setup specified in the monitor options, where the TMR RIM continually compares the outputs from three redundant monitors. If the TMR RIM detects that information from one monitor is no longer within a configured percentage of the other two monitors, it flags that monitor as in error and places an event in the System Event List.

This 135031-01 module is specifically designed for industrial rotating machinery protection and condition monitoring applications, solving the challenge of reliable rack configuration and remote machinery data retrieval in harsh industrial environments such as power generation plants, oil and gas facilities, and petrochemical processing units where continuous equipment surveillance is essential.
