The Bently Nevada 3500/45 140072-04 Position Monitor is a versatile 4-channel monitoring device designed to accept inputs from multiple transducer types, including proximity transducers, Rotary Position Transducers (RPTs), DC and AC LVDTs, and rotary potentiometers. Each channel conditions its input signal and compares the result against user-programmable alarm setpoints, providing critical information for machinery protection and operational monitoring.
Each input type has specific power and signal requirements: Proximitor or RPT uses -24 Vdc, DC LVDT requires +15 Vdc, AC LVDT operates at 2.3 Vrms 3400 Hz sine wave, and rotary potentiometers use -12.38 Vdc. The monitor’s input impedance varies depending on input type, ranging from 10 kΩ for Proximitor/RPT inputs to 1 MΩ for DC LVDTs. Power consumption depends on the input type: typically 7.7 W for Position I/O, 8.5 W for AC LVDT I/O, and 5.6 W for Rotary Potentiometer I/O.
The 3500/45 allows flexible configuration using the 3500 Rack Configuration Software to monitor axial (thrust) position, differential expansion, valve position, case expansion, and other differential expansion modes. Channels can generate measured variables, for which alert and danger setpoints can be established to trigger alarms, ensuring continuous machinery protection and providing operators and maintenance personnel with essential real-time information.
The monitor is designed to operate in harsh industrial environments with an operating temperature of -30°C to +65°C when used with Internal/External Termination I/O Modules, storage temperature of -40°C to +85°C, and 95% non-condensing humidity. The front panel LEDs indicate operational status (OK LED), communication (TX/RX LED), and bypass mode (Bypass LED) for easy visual monitoring.
