More Information

Overview Manuals Variants Control Protection Application
  • Three-phase stepping-motor power controller
  • Selectable resolution and current-reduction functions
  • Four suffix variants define mains and signal levels

WD3-007 converts pulse commands into controlled three-phase stepping-motor current while monitoring drive readiness and power-stage faults.

The controller provides selectable stepping resolution, motor-current adjustment and automatic current reduction. The complete WD3-007 suffix must be used to identify the applicable mains-voltage and control-signal configuration.

Before installation or replacement, confirm the complete model suffix, supply voltage, signal level, motor phase current, motor wiring, mounting arrangement and cooling requirements.

Availability, condition, price, and shipping time for WD3-007 are confirmed during quotation.

  • .0401 combines 110 VAC with 24 V signal inputs
  • .0501 combines 230 VAC with 24 V signal inputs
  • .1401 and .1501 use 5 V signal inputs at 110 and 230 VAC respectively
  • Supports one-pulse PULSE and DIR control
  • Supports two-pulse CW and CCW control
  • Provides RESET input and RDY relay output
  • Monitors phase short circuit and supply overvoltage or undervoltage
  • Reports power-controller overtemperature
  • Requires clear fan airflow above and below the enclosure
  • Pulse-controlled three-phase stepper positioning axes
  • Machine motion systems using a PLC or positioning controller
  • Legacy installations requiring selectable step resolution and stored counter position
Description
WD3-007 is a Berger Lahr three-phase stepping-motor power controller for pulse-and-direction or clockwise-and-counterclockwise command systems.

It provides selectable motor phase current, 500 to 10,000 steps per revolution, standstill current reduction, an internal position counter, readiness output, forced-air cooling and protection monitoring.

The base designation is incomplete for electrical ordering. Confirm one of the .0401, .0501, .1401 or .1501 variants before purchase because mains voltage and signal level differ.

Technical notes
Do not order only by the WD3-007 base name. Read the full suffix from the installed label and match both mains voltage and input-signal level. Preserve airflow, grounding, motor phase sequence and pulse-interface polarity.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
What information must be matched before replacing a Berger Lahr WD3-007 in an existing machine?
Match the complete suffix, mains voltage, signal level, motor current, step-resolution setting, connector pinout and installed braking or interlock wiring; the WD3-007 base number alone is not sufficient.
What should be recorded before removing a working Berger Lahr WD3-007 for repair or exchange?
Photograph every switch and connector position, record the current and step-resolution settings, label all cables, capture the RDY interlock wiring and note the motor nameplate so the replacement can be commissioned from a known baseline.
Why might a replacement Berger Lahr WD3-007 power up but fail to release the machine interlock?
Check the RDY relay state, supply-voltage variant, input-signal level, emergency-stop chain, motor wiring and active fault LEDs; a suffix or wiring mismatch can leave the drive powered but not ready.
How can nuisance overtemperature trips on a Berger Lahr WD3-007 be reduced?
Restore unobstructed fan airflow, maintain the required space above and below the drive, clean the cabinet filters, verify ambient temperature and confirm that motor current has not been set above the motor rating.
What can cause incorrect travel distance after fitting a replacement Berger Lahr WD3-007?
A different steps-per-revolution setting, reversed phase sequence, changed controller pulse scaling or incorrect direction logic can alter motion; compare all four items with the removed drive before production use.
Can a different Berger Lahr WD3-007 suffix be installed as a temporary substitute?
Only after an engineering review confirms mains compatibility, command-signal voltage, connector wiring and safety-chain behavior; fitting a visually identical suffix without those checks can damage the drive or controller.
What evidence should a customer request when buying a stored or refurbished Berger Lahr WD3-007?
Request clear nameplate and connector photographs, the full suffix, power-up and RDY evidence, fault-history information, cooling-fan condition and confirmation that the unit was tested with a compatible motor and signal level.
