Emerson PK0750S DeltaV PK750 Simplex Controller Assembly Overview

  • Standard simplex PK750 assembly with traditional local-I/O capability
  • 750-DST capacity for DeltaV device-signal allocation
  • One-controller order scope with one local-I/O power module

PK0750S includes one controller, one carrier, two IOPs, one power module, and one power-module blank cover.

Module execution rates from 25 ms to 60 seconds let fast control and slower supervisory functions share the controller.

Traditional local I/O and native Ethernet services give the standard simplex assembly both cabinet-I/O and package-network roles.

Apter Power provides PK0750S documentation review, quotation coordination, and exact-assembly procurement support.

Important Notice: Confirm that the order requires the standard simplex assembly with traditional local I/O and the complete published hardware scope.
  • DST capacity: The PK750 size supports as many as 750 device signal tags for project allocation.
  • Execution schedule: Supported module rates span 25 ms to 60 seconds for separating fast loops from supervisory work.
  • P01 device ceiling: The package-network port supports as many as 64 Ethernet devices.
  • Batch scale: The published PK750 value is eight standalone batch units for unit-module planning.
  • Traditional local I/O: The standard PK0750S assembly supports as many as eight carriers and 64 cards.
  • CIOC scaling: DeltaV v15.FP3 permits as many as 32 CIOCs when positions above 16 use CIOC2 hardware.
  • Wireless integration: As many as 16 WIOCs can connect WirelessHART field signals.
  • Interface mix: Traditional cards, CHARMs, WirelessHART, and supported Ethernet devices can share the project architecture.
  • Modbus TCP: Client and Server roles connect package controllers, HMIs, analyzers, and gateways.
  • EtherNet/IP: The Scanner role exchanges implicit and explicit messages with adapter devices on P01.
  • PROFINET: The Controller role uses the PN1 interface in an integrated DeltaV configuration.
  • OPC UA Server: Native reads and writes require no separate license and consume no DSTs.
  • Process skids: PK0750S can run package control with local engineering and an operator station.
  • Conventional I/O: The standard assembly serves DeltaV projects that retain traditional local cards and carriers.
  • Mixed field signals: CHARMs and WirelessHART can extend field connectivity around the simplex controller.
  • Ethernet packages: PLCs, MCCs, analyzers, and supervisory clients can exchange data through supported native protocols.
Description
The PK0750S is Emerson's ordered simplex PK750 assembly for DeltaV control projects that retain traditional local I/O. It combines the controller architecture and I/O connection path under one exact order identity, reducing ambiguity between the standard assembly and no-local-I/O variants.

The PK0750S executes control logic from process signals delivered through I/O and Ethernet device subsystems. Scheduled module rates let engineers reserve faster execution for time-critical loops while slower modules handle supervisory work without forcing one scan rate across the controller.

Technical notes
PK0750S exposes its removable SDHC card only after the controller is removed from the carrier. This access boundary turns a memory-card change into a controlled hardware intervention; secure the process state and plan controller removal before service, and stop if the cabinet cannot be safely taken out of operation.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
What should be included in a complete PK0750S order?
A PK0750S order should include one PK750 controller, one carrier, two IOPs, one power module, and one power-module blank cover. If a quote lists only a controller module, hold the order and ask the supplier to reconcile it with the official assembly scope.
Why can PK0750S authenticate but refuse a configuration download?
Check the physical key switch first. In the locked position, PK0750S can still authenticate, back up, and retrieve, but it blocks download, decommission, upgrade, and Telnet actions. Return the switch to the required service position before retrying the engineering action.
What does a flashing red Error LED mean on PK0750S during startup?
A flashing red Error LED means PK0750S is decommissioned; a continuous red indication points to an internal error. Commission the controller if it is intentionally new, but stop startup and diagnose the hardware state if the red indication remains continuous.
Can PK0750S use Modbus TCP Client and EtherNet/IP Scanner on P01 at the same time?
No. PK0750S supports only one of those P01 client roles at a time. Choose the protocol role required by the package network before device engineering, and separate or redesign the connection plan if both client functions are requested.
Does the OPC UA Server on PK0750S require a separate license or consume DSTs?
No. Emerson states that the PK0750S OPC UA Server needs no separate license and does not consume DSTs. Confirm the client read/write demand against the controller's OPC UA capacity before using it as the package-to-supervisory data path.
How should PK0750S be sized when more than 16 CIOCs are planned?
From DeltaV v15.FP3, PK0750S can address up to 32 CIOCs, but all CIOCs above the first 16 must be CIOC2 units. If that mix is not available, keep the design at 16 CIOCs or revise the I/O architecture before commissioning.
How should the fastest 25 ms modules be planned on PK0750S?
Use supported high-density I/O cards and keep the PK0750S module in simplex form, as Emerson specifies for the fastest execution class. Review control-module complexity and total loading before reserving 25 ms; move less time-critical logic to slower scheduled rates.
