Features:
- Combines sixteen DC inputs, one transistor output and eleven relay outputs.
- Lets Q1 deliver PTO or PWM signals at frequencies up to 5 kHz.
- Provides separate RS-232 and RS-485 serial communication ports.
The wide 9.2–30 VDC controller supply range supports both 12 V and 24 V panel systems without a separate AC feed.
A 200 mA auxiliary 24 VDC source can power modest field loads, and removable terminal blocks simplify controller replacement while retaining field conductors.
The mixed output arrangement separates fast pulse work from relay switching, while temperature derating defines safe simultaneous I/O use in warm enclosures.
The General Electric IC200UDR228 VersaMax Micro 28-Point PLC may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Two-Port Network Roles
- RS-232 Role: Port 1 operates as an SNP or SNPX slave connection.
- RS-485 Roles: Port 2 supports SNP, SNPX and Modbus RTU master or slave operation.
- Serial I/O: Both port resources can support application-defined serial exchanges.
- Port Setup: Baud rate, parity, node address and protocol role are configured in the PLC application.
Fast I/O Functions
- Counter Modes: The input bank supports up to four Type A counters or one Type A plus one Type B.
- Count Rate: Designated inputs accept counter signals up to 10 kHz.
- Pulse Output: Q1 can generate pulse-train commands at up to 5 kHz.
- Duty Control: Q1 also supports PWM operation for compatible loads.
Temperature and Load Control
- Normal Range: No point derating is required through 45 °C.
- Warm Panels: Above 45 °C, no more than half of the I/O points may be on together.
- Relay Heating: Enclosure design must account for contact current and switching duty.
- Field Supply: Relay and transistor loads use external power sized for simultaneous demand.
Supported Control Tasks
- Velocity Sensing: Pulse counting can convert encoder activity into speed information.
- Process Control: Mixed outputs can coordinate relay loads with a fast transistor command.
- Material Handling: Counter inputs can follow conveyor or indexing events.
- Meter Proving: High-speed counts can compare a measured pulse total with a reference interval.
