Features:
- Integrates twelve configurable 24 VDC inputs with eight sink transistor outputs in one controller.
- Supports high-speed counting plus PWM and pulse-train output modes for motion-related control.
- Provides built-in serial communications and removable terminal strips for service access.
The integrated I/O arrangement lets General Electric IC200UDD220 handle common machine signals without a separate discrete expansion module. Its twelve inputs can use positive- or negative-logic wiring for field devices, while eight sink transistor outputs operate compatible indicators, interlocks and 24 VDC loads.
For fast pulse work, selected inputs on General Electric IC200UDD220 can be assigned to Type A or Type B high-speed counters up to 100 kHz. Compatible outputs can remain standard I/O or be configured for PWM, pulse-train or ramped pulse-train control up to 65 kHz.
The installation hardware on General Electric IC200UDD220 includes removable screw-down barrier-style terminal strips with protective covers, a built-in RS-232 RJ-45 Port 1, a Run/Stop switch, and connection points for the optional Port 2 module and removable Memory Pack. These components keep field wiring, programming access and operating controls on the controller.
The General Electric IC200UDD220 20-Point VersaMax Micro PLC may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Serial Port Roles
- Built-in RS-232: The RJ-45 Port 1 supports direct programming and serial device communication.
- Supported protocols: Configure SNP/SNPX master or slave, Modbus RTU master or slave, or Serial I/O.
- Optional second port: Add a compatible RS-232 or RS-485 option when a second serial channel is required.
- Concurrent monitoring: With Port 2 installed, both ports can monitor while only one port handles programming.
Logic and High-Speed Setup
- Program formats: Build the application in Ladder Diagram or Instruction List.
- Counter assignment: Configure up to four Type A counters or documented Type A and Type B combinations.
- Output modes: Assign compatible outputs to standard, PWM, pulse-train, or ramped pulse-train service.
- Power-up source: Read the configuration and application from RAM or flash at startup.
Startup and Service Checks
- Power-up diagnostics: Retain startup checks unless the project deliberately uses the documented 100 ms disabled-diagnostics behavior.
- Status indicators: Use the Power, OK, Run and individual I/O LEDs to separate controller-state issues from point wiring faults.
- I/O isolation: Field circuits are isolated from logic and divided into groups as shown in the wiring diagram.
- Pulse suppression: Sink outputs resist negative voltage pulses when switching documented lamp or inductive loads.
- Memory retention: The capacitor holds RAM and the clock for at least 30 minutes at 25 C, with an optional battery for longer backup.
Documented Control Uses
- Pulse measurement: High-speed counters support meter proving and turbine-flow monitoring from rapid field pulses.
- Speed and position: Edge selection and Type B quadrature counting serve velocity and motion-feedback tasks.
- Material handling: Pulse-train, PWM and ramped outputs can coordinate conveyors and compatible actuators.
- Machine sequencing: Standard inputs and transistor outputs handle interlocks, indicators and controlled DC loads.
