Features:
- Connection Between Field I/O Devices and Honeywell Control System Backplane
- Integrates Signal Termination with Organized Wiring Distribution
- Works Together with C300 Controllers and Series 8 I/O Modules
The F860-CA operates as the IOTA (Input/Output Termination Assembly) module in a Honeywell control system rack, providing reliable physical termination and signal distribution for all connected I/O channels. It continuously routes field signals from sensors, transmitters, and actuators to the corresponding I/O cards through the rack backplane, ensuring accurate data transmission for steady-state operation of the entire control system. Seamless signal integration is standard with the F860-CA, and using it in conjunction with redundant I/O configurations allows continued operation in the event of a single channel or module failure. The F860-CA has improved wiring organization and maintenance accessibility over previous termination designs, while incorporating standardized connection capabilities within the Honeywell Experion PKS architecture.
The F860-CA provides essential termination functions common to the entire I/O subsystem, and is a critical component of the control signal path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall monitoring and control system. One F860-CA is required per I/O card slot depending on the specific I/O type being terminated. The F860-CA occupies a dedicated slot position adjacent to its corresponding I/O module and is always installed in the IOTA slot position (the designated termination assembly location).
For redundant I/O applications, the Honeywell system requires a second F860-CA termination module installed alongside the redundant I/O card. In addition to standard single-channel operation, the redundant configuration also performs automatic signal failover. The F860-CA dual termination configuration executes failover using the internal circuitry specified in the I/O module options. Using this method, the redundant signal system continually monitors the health of both I/O paths. If the system detects that the primary I/O channel is no longer providing stable signal output (outside configured tolerance levels), it will automatically transfer the signal path to the secondary channel and generate a system alarm notification.
The F860-CA Honeywell IOTA Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Mission-Critical Automation: Ideal for industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, and power generation where high availability is required to prevent downtime.
- Redundant Power Supply: Supports N+1 redundancy by using two power modules (typically F801 or F802) to ensure continuous operation of fieldbus segments even if one module fails.
- Segment Isolation & Diagnostics: Used to provide galvanic isolation between 24V DC input and fieldbus segments, preventing widespread failure from ground faults in field wiring.
- System Integration: Specifically engineered for the Honeywell Experion PKS Series C.
- Mechanical Standard: Complies with the 11.6-inch IOTA format for direct fitting into standard Honeywell Series C mounting channels.
- Connectivity: Features two multi-pin connectors that link to FIM IOTAs via standard system cables, allowing flexible mounting locations within a Series C I/O cabinet.
- Fieldbus Standard: Adheres to the IEC61158-2 fieldbus standard and the Fieldbus Foundation™ FF-831 validation test.
- High Density: Supports eight segments in a compact 11.6-inch footprint, maximizing space within control cabinets.
- Passive Reliability: The IOTA itself is a passive component containing only interconnections, which significantly increases the overall reliability of the power system.
- Thermal Management: Designed for efficient heat dissipation, allowing it to operate in ambient temperatures from -40°C to +65°C (depending on the power module used) when mounted vertically.
- Integrated Diagnostics: Built-in indicator LEDs provide real-time status for each of the eight segments, and a remote alarm facility allows for rapid fault detection and monitoring.
