Features:
- Supports digital I/O (line/non‑line monitored), analog I/O (0/4‑20mA), and ESD input on channel 32; eliminates need for multiple termination assemblies.
- Operates from -40°C to +70°C; stores -40°C to +85°C; 10‑95% non‑condensing humidity; pollution degree 2.
- Allows two RUSIO‑3224 or RUSLS‑3224 modules to be connected in parallel for redundant control; hot‑swappable field wiring connections.
The FC-IOTA-R24 is a universal field termination assembly that supports a wide variety of I/O types through the same set of connectors. It is designed to work with Honeywell RUSIO‑3224 and RUSLS‑3224 configurable I/O modules. The supported list includes digital inputs (both standard and line‑monitored), analog inputs (0‑20mA and 4‑20mA), digital outputs (0.5A, 1A, or 2A, with or without line monitoring), analog outputs (0‑20mA and 4‑20mA), and a dedicated line‑monitored ESD input on channel 32. Instead of stocking separate termination assemblies for analog inputs, digital outputs, and ESD inputs, engineers can use a single FC-IOTA-R24 for mixed I/O configurations.
The FC-IOTA-R24 is engineered for harsh industrial environments where temperature extremes and humidity are common. Its operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C allows installation in unheated outdoor cabinets (e.g., Arctic pipeline stations), refrigerated warehouses, or high‑temperature areas near furnaces and boilers. The storage temperature range is even wider: -40°C to +85°C, accommodating temporary exposure during transport or storage. Relative humidity tolerance is 10‑95% non‑condensing, suitable for tropical climates or process areas with steam or washdown. Pollution degree is rated 2 or better, meaning the assembly can be installed in control rooms and light industrial environments with minimal conductive dust.
The FC-IOTA-R24 is designed to support redundant configurations for high‑availability safety systems. Two RUSIO‑3224 or RUSLS‑3224 modules can be connected in parallel on the same IOTA. Each module is individually capable of controlling all I/O points. In normal operation, one module acts as primary while the other stands by. If the primary module fails or is removed for maintenance, the secondary module automatically takes over control of the field I/O. This dual‑module redundancy is critical for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) where controller failure must not lead to loss of safety function. The FC-IOTA-R24 provides the physical termination that allows both modules to share the same field wiring without conflicts.
The FC-IOTA-R24 Honeywell Termination Assembly may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond
End-Of-Life (EOL)by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Oil & Gas Extraction & Refining: Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems for offshore platforms or refineries.
- Chemicals & Petrochemicals: Monitoring reactor pressure, temperature, and chemical leaks, and implementing safety interlocking logic.
- Energy & Power: Safety control of boiler management systems (BMS) and critical auxiliary equipment.
- Universal I/O Configuration: Supports compatibility with the FC-RUSIO-3224 module, allowing a single channel to be configured as AI, AO, DI, or DO via software. This reduces the need for spare parts for different types of docking stations, improving design and maintenance efficiency.
- Fully Redundant Architecture: Provides dual power inputs and redundant communication paths. Its performance feature is the ability to automatically switch faulty channels without affecting controlled processes, ensuring system SIL 3 continuity.
- Hot-Swap Efficiency: Supports direct replacement of damaged I/O modules while the system is powered on, without interrupting production processes, minimizing Mean Time To Repair (MTTR).
- High Integration of Field Equipment: When a control cabinet needs to simultaneously connect pressure sensors, solenoid valves, and switch signals, the FC-IOTA-R24 allows engineers to process these signals on a single base, significantly saving control cabinet space.
- Remote I/O Deployment: Often deployed in remote cabinets close to field equipment, it communicates with the central Safety Manager controller via a secure communication protocol, reducing the cost of long-distance cable routing.
- System Upgrades and Expansion: When adding safety control logic to an existing Experion PKS system, the FC-IOTA-R24 provides a modular expansion method, facilitating the rapid addition of safety monitoring points.
