More Information

Overview Manuals Specifications Applications Safety & Compliance Performance & Efficiency

Product overview:

  • Horizontal I/O bus for the S chassis
  • 18 I/O module flat-cable connectors
  • One 20-pin extender cable assembly

FS-IOBUS-HBS carries non-redundant Safety Manager I/O bus signals horizontally across the IOCHAS-0001S module positions.

Connector alignment is essential because the assembly links every module slot to the single slot-21 IO-0001 extender.

Verified specifications for FS-IOBUS-HBS:

  • Bus configuration: Non-redundant horizontal I/O bus
  • Associated chassis: IOCHAS-0001S
  • I/O module connectors: 18 flat-cable connectors
  • I/O slot range: Slots 1–18
  • Extender connectors: 1 flat-cable connector, slot 21
  • Extender cable: 1 × 20-pin flat-cable assembly
  • Extender module: IO-0001
  • Coating: Non-conformal-coated FS version

Typical applications:

  • Horizontal bus distribution in IOCHAS-0001S
  • Connection of 18 non-redundant I/O modules
  • Replacement of damaged flat-cable bus assemblies

The assembly is a chassis-specific signal interconnect and is not intended for external field wiring.

Safety and compliance:

  • Single I/O bus path
  • Fixed slot-21 extender connection
  • Cable orientation must follow chassis documentation

De-energize and document every flat-cable position before service to avoid slot-to-slot connection errors.

Performance and efficiency:

  • Eighteen module links on one horizontal assembly
  • One 20-pin connection to IO-0001
  • Compact in-chassis signal routing

The bus backplane reduces individual wiring while providing a consistent communication path across all non-redundant I/O slots.

Description

FS-IOBUS-HBS is a non-conformal-coated non-redundant horizontal i/o bus backplane for the Honeywell Safety Manager platform. FS-IOBUS-HBS provides eighteen flat-cable connections for I/O modules in slots 1 through 18 and one connection for the IO-0001 extender in slot 21.

A 20-pin flat-cable assembly connects the horizontal backplane to the middle connector of the IO-0001 module. Verify the S chassis, cable orientation, slot numbering and connector condition before fitting or replacing this bus component.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
How is FS-IOBUS-HBS integrated into a Safety Manager configuration?
It is used in an IOCHAS-0001S with one IO-0001 extender in slot 21 and the matching IOB-0001S chassis backplane.
Which technical interfaces or ratings define FS-IOBUS-HBS?
The key documented points are Bus configuration: Non-redundant horizontal I/O bus; Associated chassis: IOCHAS-0001S; I/O module connectors: 18 flat-cable connectors; I/O slot range: Slots 1–18. Confirm these values against the installed chassis and project hardware list.
Which compatibility checks are required before installing FS-IOBUS-HBS?
Check S-chassis type, eighteen-slot cable set, IO-0001 connector position, 20-pin cable orientation and backplane revision.
Which slot, bus position or chassis location is specified for FS-IOBUS-HBS?
It is mounted horizontally in the non-redundant I/O chassis and connected from slots 1–18 to the IO-0001 module in slot 21.
What diagnostic symptoms can indicate a FS-IOBUS-HBS connection or hardware problem?
A reversed, damaged or open flat cable on FS-IOBUS-HBS can isolate one or more I/O slots or one redundant processor path. Inspect connector orientation, cable strain and the IO-0001 connection before replacing modules.
Can FS-IOBUS-HBS replace a related FS, FC, S or R version directly?
IOBUS-HBR is designed for two redundant extender paths and is not a direct replacement for HBS.
Which commissioning checks should be completed after fitting FS-IOBUS-HBS?
Verify each slot cable, the IO-0001 extender connection, odd/even path separation where applicable and error-free I/O communication after the chassis is reassembled.
Which engineering data is needed to match and quote FS-IOBUS-HBS?
Provide the complete FS-IOBUS-HBS reference, controller and chassis type, Safety Manager release, slot or bus arrangement, coating requirement, existing hardware revision, required quantity and project approval requirements.
