Features:
- Interface Between the Universal Control Network (UCN) and HPM Chassis Backplane
- Combines Capability of Control Processing with Network Communication Management
- Operates in Conjunction with the HPMM Card Assembly and Standard HPM I/O Modules
The HONEYWELL 51401635-150 HPM Communication and Control Processor operates as the core processing and communication module in an HPM rack, executing regulatory, logic, and sequential control functions while managing network data exchange across the system. It continuously processes control algorithms at operating frequencies up to approximately 600 kHz and facilitates network data access and timestamping through the UCN interface, distributing synchronized control commands and status information through the rack backplane to support steady state operation of all HPM modules and I/O cards. Deterministic control execution is standard with the 51401635-150, and using an optional Redundant Configuration will allow seamless failover to a backup processor in the event of a primary module failure. The 51401635-150 incorporates universal UCN communication capability within the HPM rack, enabling high-speed, secure process control network communications at 5 Mbps using carrier band and token bus access control mechanisms.
The 51401635-150 provides essential control and communication functions common to the entire HPM rack, and is a critical component of the control path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall process control system. One or two 51401635-150 processors may be configured per rack depending on the desired redundancy level. The 51401635-150 occupies the leftmost two slots in the HPM card file and connects via keyed backplane connectors to integrate seamlessly with other HPM chassis components.
For Dual Redundant Processor applications, the HPM System requires a second 51401635-150 module installed in the redundant configuration. In addition to standard single module operation, the redundant configuration also performs automatic switchover. The HPM dual processor configuration executes failover using the internal circuitry specified in the processor options. Using this method, the redundant processor system continually monitors the health of both modules. If the system detects that the primary 51401635-150 is no longer providing stable control execution or network communication (outside configured performance/tolerance levels), it will automatically transfer control functions to the secondary module and place an event in the System Event List.
The 51401635-150 HONEYWELL HPM Communication and Control Processor may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
