Features:
- Provides Reliable High-Density Power Distribution For Trusted® Systems
- Integrates Advanced Monitoring And Control With Flexible Power Ports
- Supports Stacked Configuration To Optimize Redundancy And Load Sharing
The Rockwell ICS Triplex T8240 Power Shelf is a 19 inch x 1U chassis designed to securely house up to three Power Packs, providing robust physical protection while maintaining optimal airflow. Unlike older models such as the T8230, the T8240 features integrated Power Ports and advanced connectivity options that enhance system monitoring and diagnostics.
Each Power Pack delivers 750 W to the DC output, and the shelf supports n+1 redundancy, enabling up to 2250 W of total power. When stacking up to four T8240 shelves, the system can achieve a total output of 9000 W, providing greater scalability and load sharing capabilities compared to earlier T8235 or T8232 shelves.
The T8240 is designed for seamless integration with Power Controllers via the TC-323 interconnect cable, allowing online voltage adjustments and monitoring of up to 12 Power Packs across multiple shelves. Spare slots are protected with Power Shields, ensuring electromagnetic integrity and safe operation. This combination of high-density power, redundancy, and advanced monitoring distinguishes the T8240 from previous Triplex power shelf models.
The T8240 Rockwell ICS Triplex Power Shelf may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Functional Safety Certification: TÜV Rheinland certified, compliant with IEC 61508 SIL 3 level, suitable for high-reliability safety instrumented systems (SIS).
- Electrical Safety: Compliant with EN 61010-1, UL 508, and CSA C22.2 industrial control equipment safety standards.
- Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): Compliant with EN 61326-1 industrial environment immunity requirements, ensuring the purity of power output in strong electromagnetic environments.
- Explosion-proof Certification: Supports deployment in Class I, Division 2 (Groups A, B, C, D) and ATEX Zone 2 hazardous areas.
- Operating Temperature: Rated range -20°C to +60°C. In some configurations, extreme environments up to +70°C can be supported by reducing power derating.
- Relative Humidity: 5% to 95% (non-condensing). Circuit boards and busbars typically feature a G3 conformal coating, resisting corrosive gases such as H₂S.
- Shock and Vibration Resistance: Complies with IEC 60068-2-6 vibration standards and IEC 60068-2-27 shock standards, capable of withstanding continuous mechanical stress in industrial environments.
- Pollution Degree: Complies with Pollution Degree 2.
- Safety Instrumented System (SIS) Power Supply: As the core power supply platform for Emergency Shutdown (ESD) and Fire & Gas Detection (F&G) systems, its N+1 redundancy mechanism ensures that a single power module failure will not cause system downtime.
- Distributed Control Center: Its ultra-thin 1U design makes it ideal for space-constrained distributed cabinets (Remote Instrument Enclosures), providing up to 2250W of power in a very small space.
- High-availability industrial facilities: Widely used in offshore oil platforms, refineries, nuclear power plants, and large chemical plants.
- High-power expansion: Supports up to four T8240 racks in parallel (a total of 12 power modules), providing a total of 9000W of high-current power support for large Trusted architectures with thousands of I/O points.
