Features:
- 16-channel TMR analog input with 4-20mA, ±0.1% accuracy, 16-bit resolution, and SIL3 certification
- Triple Modular Redundancy with 2oo3 voting and ≥500V channel isolation for fault-tolerant safety applications
- HART communication support with ≤10ms sampling rate, compatible with Tricon 3508/3708 chassis
The T9191 delivers 16 independent analog input channels specifically designed for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) requiring the highest level of integrity. Each channel accepts standard 4-20 mA signals from field transmitters measuring pressure, temperature, level, or flow, with the flexibility to be configured for 0-20 mA or ±20 mA ranges . The module achieves ±0.1% full-scale accuracy at 25°C with 16-bit resolution, ensuring that critical process variables are measured with precision necessary for reliable safety decisions. This accuracy is maintained across the operating temperature range of 0°C to +60°C.
The T9191 is built upon Triconex's patented Triple Modular Redundancy architecture, providing the highest level of fault tolerance for safety-critical signal acquisition. Inside the module, each of the 16 analog input signals is processed simultaneously by three independent, isolated channels . A hardware-based 2oo3 (two-out-of-three) voter compares the outputs from these three channels. If all three agree, the value is passed to the controller. If one channel deviates due to drift, component failure, or external interference, the voter accepts the value from the two agreeing channels and flags the third as faulty.
The T9191 goes beyond simple analog signal acquisition by supporting HART (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer) digital communication when paired with a compatible HART backplane such as model 3948H . This capability allows the module to simultaneously read the primary 4-20 mA process variable (PV) while accessing secondary HART variables (SV, TV, FV) and device diagnostic information from smart transmitters. Maintenance teams can retrieve device status, calibration data, and alert conditions without interrupting the safety function or requiring separate handheld communicators.
The T9191 ICS TRIPLEX Analog Input Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond
End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Emergency Shutdown (ESD) Inputs: Captures continuous 4-20mA telemetry from high-pressure transmitter lines, critical process gas flowlines, and liquid level sensors to trigger automatic block-valve shutdowns.
- Fire & Gas (F&G) Transducers: Interfaces with analog flame detectors, toxic gas sniffers, and combustible lower explosive limit (LEL) sensors requiring multi-channel voting validation (e.g., 2oo3 logic) across hazardous plant zones.
- Burner Management Systems (BMS):Tracks continuous furnace draft pressures, pilot fuel gas flows, and industrial boiler drum levels to regulate safe ignition permissive pathways.
- Embedded Firmware Management: New firmware versions for the analog module are packaged directly inside the engineering workstation software (T9087 AADvance Workbench 2). The software cross-references the hardware ID to ensure strict version compliance.
- Online Synchronized Updates: When configured in a dual/redundant infrastructure (T9432 paired with a T9832 or T9833 termination assembly), firmware updates can be pushed sequentially. The backup module is updated and validated first, followed by a live process handoff, allowing the primary card to update without causing a plant trip or interrupting process safety loops.
- Safety Manual Compliance: Any firmware modification requires verification against the official Rockwell Automation Safety Manual (ICSTT-RM446) to maintain the safety integrity loop certification.
- Line Monitoring & Fault Thresholds: Configures upscale/downscale burnout parameters (e.g., declaring a channel "BAD" if signal current falls below 3.6 mA or rises above 21.0 mA).
- Signal Filtering: Applies digital low-pass filtering constants to suppress high-frequency line noise or process turbulence from fluctuating raw sensor inputs.
- Redundancy Leveling: Sets up the architecture for Simplex (Single), Dual, or TMR (Triple Modular Redundant) processing depending on the underlying physical base unit assembly.
