- Extend the 2 Mbps Module Fieldbus over multimode fiber up to 2 km
- Install identical FCM2F2 modules at both ends of every fiber segment
- Use redundant adjacent modules when the project requires dual optical paths
FCM2F2 is a Foxboro 2 km fiber-optic fieldbus communications module designed for the Foxboro Fieldbus Communication Modules family.
Foxboro FCM2F2 extends the 2 Mbps Module Fieldbus between remote 200 Series baseplates over multimode fiber links up to 2 km. FCM2F2 is the functional designation and RH914YZ is its module part number; fiber cable and baseplates are separate hardware. The module at each end of a fiber segment must be the identical FCM2F2 type.
Before installation or replacement, verify the complete nameplate, compatible hardware, network or field wiring, saved configuration, software release and commissioning plan.
Availability, condition, price, and shipping time for FCM2F2 are confirmed during quotation.

- Use 62.5/125 µm graded-index multimode fiber, 0.275 NA, with ST connectors
- Keep each FCM2F2 fiber segment within 2 km
- Verify optical polarity, connector condition and loss before service
- Place redundant FCMs in the documented first or last adjacent slots
- Use up to four baseplates and three fiber extensions in a supported chain
- Install FCM2F2 at both ends of each segment
- Confirm local and remote Module Fieldbus traffic at both FCMs
- Check both optical paths before removing a redundant module
- Prove alarms and communication recovery during a controlled path test
- Remote 200 Series FBM baseplates separated by up to 2 km over multimode fiber
- Redundant point-to-point Module Fieldbus extension in electrically noisy plant areas
- Distributed I/O baseplate chains requiring fiber isolation from ground loops and lightning exposure
