More Information

Overview Manuals Channel Modes Isolation & Wiring Commissioning Application
  • Treat FBM247 as the functional model and verify RH927BN on the current module label
  • Define all eight channel modes before selecting termination hardware
  • Check HART revision, signal ranges and pulse limits for each connected device

Foxboro FBM247 is the functional model for an eight-channel, independently configurable and isolated field I/O module.

The current official module part number is RH927BN; termination assemblies and field cables are separate selection items.

Before replacement, export every channel mode, scaling value, HART assignment, threshold, fault action and TA connection.

Availability, condition, price, and shipping time for FBM247 are confirmed during quotation.

  • Each of eight channels is configured independently
  • HART, analog, discrete and pulse modes are documented
  • Channel mode changes do not require the other channels to be taken offline
  • Every channel is galvanically isolated from other channels and ground
  • A shield terminal is provided for each channel
  • TA and cable selection must match the channel configuration
  • Restore channel modes and scaling before applying field power
  • Validate analog direction, pulse thresholds and HART communication
  • Test channel faults without disturbing unrelated configured channels
  • Mixed analog and discrete field I/O on one module
  • HART transmitter or positioner integration
  • Pulse, frequency and event acquisition within documented limits
Description
Foxboro FBM247 combines HART analog input/output, conventional current or voltage input, discrete sensing, pulse measurement and digital output in one module.

Each channel is galvanically isolated and configured independently, enabling mixed signal types without forcing the entire module into a single operating mode.

It is applied where a Foxboro 200 Series station needs flexible field integration with fewer dedicated module types and controlled channel-by-channel commissioning.

Technical notes
FBM247 is the Foxboro DCS functional model; RH927BN is the current electronic-module part number. A termination-assembly number is not the module identity, so verify the module, TA, analog voltage range, wiring and controller configuration before replacement.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
Can Foxboro FBM247 RH927BN directly replace a Compact FBM247 module?
No. Foxboro FBM247 RH927BN uses the standard 200 Series baseplate architecture; verify the baseplate, termination assembly, field cable, enclosure space and system configuration before replacing a Compact FBM247.
Can different channels on Foxboro FBM247 RH927BN be configured for different signal types?
Yes. Foxboro FBM247 RH927BN allows each channel to be configured independently within its supported analog, digital, pulse and HART modes, but the field wiring and termination arrangement must match the selected mode.
What should be checked before connecting a HART device to Foxboro FBM247 RH927BN?
Confirm that the device uses a supported HART revision, its analog range and loop-power arrangement match the selected channel mode, and the control-system database contains the correct device profile.
Why might one channel on Foxboro FBM247 RH927BN report a fault while the other channels remain healthy?
Because the channels are isolated and independently configured, inspect the affected channel’s selected mode, field power, polarity, terminal wiring, load, shielding and connected device before replacing Foxboro FBM247 RH927BN.
What information should be backed up before replacing Foxboro FBM247 RH927BN?
Save every channel’s operating mode, range, scaling, alarm thresholds, pulse settings, HART device assignment, fail-safe action and terminal mapping before removing Foxboro FBM247 RH927BN.
Can Foxboro FBM247 RH927BN replace the earlier P0927BN module without engineering changes?
Foxboro FBM247 RH927BN supersedes P0927BN, but a replacement still requires confirmation of system software compatibility, baseplate position, termination assembly, field cable and all saved channel configurations.
How should Foxboro FBM247 RH927BN be commissioned after replacement?
Test every configured channel with the appropriate field or reference signal, confirm polarity and scaling, verify HART communication where used, review channel diagnostics and prove all related control and fail-safe actions under controlled conditions.
