More Information

Overview Manuals Input Conversion Jumper Setup Field Power Application
  • Sixteen configurable current-input channels for selected Tricon analog-input modules
  • Precision input conversion, series protection, and redundant 24 V DC field power
  • Channel jumpers support isolated transmitter service or approved signal sharing

The Invensys TRICONEX 9771-210 is a user-configurable current-input termination panel for Tricon 3700, 3700A, 3703E, and 3721 analog-input modules.

Each of its sixteen points includes the documented current-to-voltage conversion and series-resistor paths. Redundant 24 V DC inputs can supply field transmitters through diode ORing.

Verify W and W17 jumper positions, module range, panel count, point labels, supply polarity, interface cable, shielding, and any cross-system sharing approval before installation.

Availability, condition, price, and shipping time for Invensys TRICONEX 9771-210 are confirmed during quotation.

  • Each current input uses a precision 250 ohm conversion resistor
  • Each positive field terminal includes a 180 ohm series resistor
  • Match the selected module range to the transmitter and engineering database
  • Keep W17 installed when the panel is used with 3700A or 3721
  • Remove W17 for documented 3703E extended common-mode operation
  • Remove a channel W jumper only for an approved signal-sharing circuit
  • Connect redundant 24 V DC sources with correct polarity and protection
  • Verify diode-OR source transfer and available voltage under transmitter load
  • Use two panels and correct labels for a compatible 32-point module
  • Safety-system 4–20 mA transmitter inputs with redundant field power
  • Approved transmitter-signal sharing between Tricon and another control system
  • Migration of low-density 3700 or 3700A inputs to documented 3721 hardware
Description
The Invensys TRICONEX 9771-210 is a 16-point user-configurable current-input external termination panel for selected Tricon analog-input modules. It provides sixteen power-output terminals and sixteen current-input terminals for field transmitters.

Each positive terminal includes a 180 ohm series resistor, and each input uses a precision 250 ohm resistor to convert loop current into the module's voltage input. Two 24 V DC supplies can be connected through diode ORing for redundant field power.

Channel W jumpers and W17 must match the application and module. Keep W17 installed with 3700A or 3721; remove it for the documented 3703E extended common-mode arrangement. Signal sharing with another system is allowed only where safety and control segregation rules permit it.

Technical notes
TRICONEX 9771-210 is jumper-configurable; confirm module type, W17 position, sharing arrangement, redundant power, shielding, and the matching termination cable before installation.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
Which W17 position is correct when TRICONEX 9771-210 is connected to different analog-input modules?
Keep W17 installed with 3700A or 3721. Remove W17 for the documented 3703E extended common-mode arrangement. Confirm the module part number and approved drawing before changing any jumper.
Can TRICONEX 9771-210 share one transmitter signal with a DCS or another control system?
The panel supports an approved sharing arrangement, but sharing can conflict with safety/control segregation requirements. Use it only after the site design authority confirms isolation, grounding, failure behavior, and regulatory acceptance.
What must be changed on TRICONEX 9771-210 when a channel is configured for signal sharing?
The channel's W jumper is removed as shown in the manufacturer wiring diagram. Record the original position, verify the return path, and test both receiving systems before service.
Does loss of one 24 V source stop every transmitter powered by TRICONEX 9771-210?
The panel accepts two sources through diode ORing, so one healthy source can maintain field power. Verify both feeds, protection devices, voltage under load, and the site's redundancy alarm strategy.
Why are two TRICONEX 9771-210 panels used with a 32-point module?
Each panel provides sixteen channels. Two panels and the correct 1–16/17–32 labels are required so the full 32-point module maps correctly to field loops.
What should be requested with TRICONEX 9771-210 when replacing an installed termination set?
Confirm whether ETA 3000656-210, cable 4000103-510, both point-label sets, jumper records, and any 9771-210L upgrade components are included. Do not infer scope from the panel number alone.
What should be checked first when a loop connected through TRICONEX 9771-210 reads low or zero after replacement?
Check transmitter polarity, both field supplies, the 180 ohm and 250 ohm paths, W and W17 positions, shield/return routing, point labels, connector seating, and module range configuration.
