Features:
- Connects a SIMATIC ET 200SP distributed station to a PROFINET IO controller.
- Supports up to 32 ET 200SP I/O modules plus 16 ET 200AL modules.
- Includes server module 6ES7193-6PA00-0AA0 and supports single hot swap.
Siemens 6ES7155-6AU01-0BN0 converts PROFINET cyclic data into the backplane data used by the configured ET 200SP modules.
The ET-Connection extends the same station with ET 200AL modules while the server module closes the local backplane after the last slot.
STEP 7 configuration joins the network identity, module order, address areas, and diagnostics into one distributed-station definition.
The Siemens 6ES7155-6AU01-0BN0 IM 155-6 PN ST PROFINET Interface Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Distributed I/O organization
- ET 200SP: The local backplane supports as many as thirty-two configured I/O modules.
- ET 200AL: ET-Connection extends the station with as many as sixteen ET 200AL modules.
- Address area: The complete station exchanges as many as 512 bytes of address data.
- Termination: The included server module closes the backplane after the last slot.
Interface-module supply
- Rated input: A 24 V DC source powers the interface electronics.
- Input range: The permitted steady-state range is 19.2 to 28.8 V DC.
- Protection: Reverse-polarity and short-circuit protection guard the incoming supply path.
- Buffering: Stored energy bridges a voltage interruption lasting ten milliseconds.
Controller and station configuration
- Device role: The module operates as a PROFINET IO device for the configured controller.
- Engineering: STEP 7 defines station name, addresses, module order, and diagnostics.
- GSDML: GSDML V2.35 provides the documented device description for supported engineering tools.
- Identification: I&M0 through I&M3 data identify the installed interface module and station.
Service during operation
- Hot swap scope: The Standard interface supports one module replacement during operation.
- Diagnostics: Station and channel reports identify faults received from configured I/O modules.
- Firmware: The interface-module firmware can be updated through the supported Siemens procedure.
- Successor review: The 6AU02 successor must be checked against the existing project and station hardware before use.
