Features:
- Eight analog outputs occupy one module group.
- Each channel is parameterized for current or voltage operation.
- Signal diagnostics follow the selected output mode.
Current channels use two-wire output connections while voltage channels use four-wire connections.
The external 24 V DC feed supplies field output circuitry independently from the backplane logic path.
The 4–20 mA range accepts HART-compatible loads without adding HART protocol processing.
The Siemens 6ES7650-8BK60-1AA0 ET 200PA SMART AO8 Analog Output Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Organizing eight analog outputs inside one module group
- Group structure: All eight channels share the module's group-level supply and backplane position.
- Channel parameter: Each output receives its own current or voltage range setting.
- Controller value: The process output word is converted according to the configured range of that channel.
- Status return: Diagnostic information is reported through the station for the affected channel or module.
Driving two-wire current circuits from the AO8 module
- Current ranges: The selectable ranges include 0–20 mA, 4–20 mA and bipolar ±20 mA.
- Load boundary: The connected current loop stays within the documented 750-ohm maximum.
- Cable route: Shielded output cabling is limited to 200 m under the specified installation conditions.
- HART load: The 4–20 mA path is electrically HART-compatible without performing HART communication.
Using four conductors for voltage delivery and reference
- Voltage ranges: Product version 3 adds 1–5 V, 0–10 V and bipolar ±10 V selections.
- Four-wire path: Separate output and reference conductors complete the voltage connection at the load.
- Minimum load: The connected voltage load remains at or above the documented 1-kilohm boundary.
- Short-circuit check: Voltage-channel short-circuit diagnostics depend on the supported product version and parameterization.
Separating output power from backplane communication
- External feed: The 24 V DC load supply powers the analog output circuits.
- Backplane path: Station logic power and process data pass through the ET 200PA SMART backplane.
- Wire break: Supported current configurations can report an interrupted output circuit.
- CiR operation: Configuration in Run support permits documented station changes without treating every edit as a full shutdown.
